Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
- Ability to communicate in English, orally and in writing, is required.
- Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner is required.
- Basic proficiency in computer use is required.
- Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed is required.
- Physical mobility, including movement from place to place on the job while accounting for distance and speed, is required.
- Physical agility, including the ability to maneuver the body while in place, is required.
- Dexterity of the hands and fingers is required.
- Endurance for activities such as continuous typing, prolonged standing or bending, and walking is required.
Responsibilities
- Prepare examination rooms, escort patients into rooms, and clean rooms after examinations.
- Maintain efficient patient flow and ensure proper preparation for patient visits.
- Prepare pertinent information needed for patient visits.
- Communicate and provide care consistent with patients' age, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs.
- Answer telephone calls appropriately, direct calls, and take accurate messages.
- Schedule appointments accurately and appropriately according to departmental guidelines.
- Stock examination rooms with necessary supplies and assist with ordering and maintaining supplies as assigned.
- Reconcile encounters daily and accurately according to policy guidelines.
- Communicate problems, concerns, or issues to the supervisor or manager promptly and appropriately.
- Understand and perform within the scope of practice.
- Obtain and accurately record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, and weight, as required; document them appropriately in the Electronic Health Record.
- Review and update medication lists and accurately document allergies in the Electronic Health Record; understand prescription control and refill procedures.
- Use tasking in the Electronic Health Record appropriately and promptly.
- Enter orders and schedule appointments in the Practice Management System and Electronic Health Record.
- Provide referrals and consultation orders appropriately and promptly in the Practice Management System and Electronic Health Record.
- Follow universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposing of medical waste.
- Maintain proficiency with department-specific equipment, troubleshoot it, and promptly report malfunctions.
- Facilitate transitions of care to an urgent care center or hospital.
- Demonstrate flexibility with various work schedules.
- Perform duties that need to be completed even when they are not directly assigned.
- Provide scribing services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
- Basic Life Support certification is preferred.
