  • Professional experience in a nonprofit organization with documented success in fundraising and cultivating donor relationships beyond an alumni donor base.
  • Experience supervising administrative, marketing, fundraising, and program staff.
  • Experience with strategic planning and budgeting.
  • Established relationships with senior leadership at regional and national foundations and corporate philanthropy organizations.
  • Experience building relationships and fundraising in the faith community sphere.
  • High energy and passion for GIMG’s mission.
  • Ability to construct, articulate, and implement strategic and department development plans.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Leadership, team-building, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to generate trust and build alliances with organizational stakeholders, community organizations, city, county, and state governments, and other key constituents.
  • Ability to deliver polished public speaking and presentations with strong media-relations skills.

  • Ability to communicate concisely in writing and verbally with a wide variety of constituents.
  • Senior-management-level marketing experience, including brand management and print, radio, television, and electronic or social-media advertising and programming.
  • Ability to manage public-relations programs in multiple cities simultaneously.
  • Ability to start a sophisticated Advancement/Development Office for Helms College.

Responsibilities
  • Support Goodwill’s long-range strategic plan and establish annual business plans and annual fundraising budgets covering capital campaigns, annual campaigns, planned giving, major gifts, and grants.
  • Implement the $20 million Helms College comprehensive campaign, including individual capital campaigns in four communities within GIMG territory and a branch replication fund to support worldwide expansion.
  • Act as the principal partner with campaign counsel as directed by the President.
  • Build relationships with corporations, elected officials, nonprofit organizations, foundations, and citizens in the territory.
  • Participate actively in soliciting donations, major gifts, and grants.
  • Provide regular fundraising and budget reports to the Goodwill President and Chief Executive Officer and the Goodwill Works Foundation Board of Directors.
  • Help create a philanthropic culture among Goodwill board members and employees and Helms College students.
  • Develop a vibrant storytelling alumni association for Helms College.
  • Lead major regional events, including ReNew & Brew, GoodBoats for Goodwill in Augusta, and the Annual Gala in Macon, to support the annual campaign and mission awareness.
  • Propose fundraising events for other communities and work with campaign teams on ongoing cultivation-event development.
  • Plan, develop, and implement Foundation policies and procedures, including investment and gift-acceptance policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations, laws, and Foundation bylaws.
  • Lead Volunteer Services and Faith Community Relations initiatives to develop volunteers into philosophical investors in Goodwill.
  • Provide leadership to the marketing and communications department, overseeing internal and external agency communications, brand management, and internal department customer service.
  • Create and implement a comprehensive marketing, communications, and public-relations process that conveys Goodwill’s mission consistently to donors, customers, and constituencies across all organizational business lines.
  • Act as Goodwill’s media liaison by coordinating media interest, maintaining ongoing contact with target media, and responding appropriately to media requests according to established procedures.
  • Promote the President as Chief Storyteller in all regions where practical.
  • Stay current on developments in marketing, communications, and public relations and use that information to advance Goodwill’s operational success and mission awareness.
  • Integrate Goodwill mission marketing into sales and business-development initiatives.
  • Increase Helms College’s charitable public relations and donated positive media coverage fourfold regionally and nationally.
