A high school diploma and experience in equipment operation are required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A valid state driver's license is required.
A valid Alabama Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade I or Grade IC certification is required within one year of employment.
Responsibilities
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance and repairs on pump stations, sewer mains, and manholes.
Perform drain and sewer camera inspections; routinely inspect pump stations throughout the City; log results and maintain accurate records.
Respond to citizen requests involving sewer problems.
Operate equipment and use a variety of hand and power tools; perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment; identify equipment maintenance needs.
Assist with regular system monitoring by reading gauges, graphs, meters, and control panels.
Obtain estimates on materials and maintenance needs; make purchases as required.
Assist with maintaining City facilities, including minor building and fencing repairs and mowing as required.

WASETWATER COLLECTIONS APPRENTICE Salary Range: $17.31- $23.96 depending on experience
The purpose of this position is to assist with the operation and maintenance of pump stations and sewer mains to ensure uninterrupted flow of sanitary sewer influent to the Wastewater Treatment Plant for processing.
