Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma, General Educational Development credential, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check under Oregon state requirements.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and a reliable vehicle if transportation duties apply.
  • Must have smartphone access for documentation, communication, and timekeeping.
  • Must be able to obtain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid certification; training is provided if needed.
  • Must complete the required annual training of at least 24 hours.
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting, standing, walking, driving, and frequent sitting, talking, and hearing.
  • Must be available for day, evening, and night shifts, including weekends.
  • Must demonstrate accurate documentation and the ability to make thoughtful real-time decisions that protect the safety, dignity, and rights of supported individuals.
Responsibilities
  • Build a supportive, person-centered relationship with the individual and deliver care aligned with the Individual Support Plan.
  • Promote autonomy and choice by supporting the individual in exercising rights and making decisions about their own life.
  • Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and toileting, and help with household tasks including laundry, dishes, vacuuming, and tidying.
  • Collaborate with the individual, family, and support team to enable the best possible outcomes.
  • Facilitate community participation by helping the individual plan and attend social, recreational, and appointment-based activities based on their preferences.
  • Support budgeting, grocery and other shopping, and meal preparation when needed.
  • Administer medications or support medication protocols after receiving appropriate training.
  • Identify and report incidents or changes in the individual's health, behavior, or circumstances, and maintain required documentation in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Provide transportation in a personal vehicle when required for errands, community outings, or appointments.
  • Adapt to schedule variations, including day, evening, and night shifts and weekends, to meet the individual's needs.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 6 months of experience working with the intellectual and developmental disabilities community or 1 year of caregiving or related experience.
  • Comfort around animals when applicable.
