Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in downstream processing and scale-up in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or food tech industries.
  • Able to travel to our CMOs and represent EVERY as a DSP expert.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, bioprocess engineering, biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successfully scaling up DSP operations from pilot to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Extensive experience with CMOs.
  • Deep understanding of DSP technologies and processes, including purification, filtration, and centrifugation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make real-time adjustments to processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work hands-on at the manufacturing plant and collaborate effectively with plant operators and engineers.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the scale-up of DSP operations from pilot scale to full-scale manufacturing.
  • Develop and implement strategies for efficient and cost-effective production.
  • Collaborate closely with CMOs and Contract Development and Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs) to ensure smooth technology transfer and scaling processes.
  • Establish and maintain robust processes to ensure product quality and consistency.
  • Ensure reliable production of protein with MVP processes, fully integrating the DSP team into scale-up and scale-down teams.
  • Build sufficient scale-up and down models to allow seamless transfer of processes to industrial production scale.
  • Serve as the domain expert for DSP, providing technical guidance and hands-on support to optimize processes.
  • Oversee DSP operations, including purification, filtration, centrifugation, and other relevant processes.
  • Monitor and tweak processes in real-time to address any issues and optimize production outcomes.
  • Collaborate with upstream processing (USP) teams to ensure seamless integration of DSP operations.
  • Simplify DSP processes to make them robust and cost-efficient.
  • Increase protein recovery rates, reduce losses, waste, and utility usage.
  • Develop and grow a DSP team capable of supporting scale-up activities in-house and at CMOs/CDMOs.
  • Foster a collaborative environment to ensure team alignment with scale-up and scale-down teams.
  • Develop required tech transfer documents and educate internal and external team members on using existing and novel equipment.
  • Drive the commercialization process, ensuring that scale-up activities align with commercial goals.
  • Develop and manage timelines, budgets, and resources to meet commercialization targets.
  • Provide technical support for regulatory submissions and compliance.
  • Support engineers in designing future facilities and identify state-of-the-art equipment to achieve high product quality at low costs.
  • Be actively involved at the manufacturing plant, working closely with plant operators and engineers.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and problem-solving activities to resolve production issues.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and quality standards in all plant operations.
