Requirements
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
  • Family physicians must hold membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
  • Specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is required.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification is required.
  • Current Advanced Trauma Life Support certification is required.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide the full scope of practice as an emergency physician.
  • Be accountable to the department head for emergency medicine for professional responsibilities and quality of practice.
  • Operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
