About the job

Requirements
  • A Ph.D. in Immunology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in antibody discovery, with primary expertise in display technologies, B cell-based discovery, hit identification, and lead selection.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise in at least two discovery platforms: phage display, yeast display, ribosome display, single B cell cloning, or hybridoma technology.
  • Experience in antigen design and immunization strategy, with a track record of generating high-quality, diverse antibody hits against challenging targets.
  • Strong hit identification and lead selection capabilities, including functional screening design, triage strategies, and lead nomination criteria.
  • Ability to critically evaluate, validate, and implement new discovery platforms or methodologies while balancing scientific rigor with practical development timelines.
  • A track record of scientific contributions, including peer-reviewed publications, patents, or significant internal program milestones demonstrating creative problem-solving in antibody discovery.
  • Experience leading or co-leading cross-functional discovery teams and aligning internal scientific capabilities with CRO deliverables and external partner commitments.
  • Organizational and project management abilities, including ensuring discovery milestones are met, proactively managing risks, and efficiently deploying resources.
  • Ability to translate complex discovery science into clear, actionable plans for bench scientists, project managers, and senior leadership.
  • Ability to identify and work with solutions such as AI-based antigen design, computational screening, and laboratory automation to accelerate discovery programs.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as discovery lead or co-lead on antibody programs, overseeing work from antigen design and immunization strategy through hit identification, screening, and lead selection.
  • Design and execute antigen engineering strategies, including recombinant protein design, hapten conjugation, and cell-based immunization approaches, to maximize the quality and diversity of immune responses.
  • Define program objectives, success criteria, and milestone plans to align cross-functional stakeholders and external discovery partners.
  • Oversee internal and external hybrid discovery workflows that integrate novel antibody technologies into therapeutic pipelines, identifying and resolving bottlenecks to maintain program momentum.
  • Provide technical leadership across antibody discovery platforms, including display screening for diverse antibody formats.
  • Lead and optimize single B cell cloning workflow campaigns to support robust hit identification and progression to lead candidates.
  • Guide teams on the applicability, limitations, and deployment of each discovery platform in relation to target biology and program requirements.
  • Monitor external discovery developments and assess technologies and methodologies that could accelerate or differentiate the pipeline.
  • Lead discovery campaigns for bispecific and multispecific antibodies, applying screening and selection strategies for complex, multi-target engagement requirements.
  • Evaluate and implement modality-specific discovery approaches for antibody format innovation.
  • Coordinate CRO partnerships by defining scopes, deliverables, quality standards, and timelines.
  • Act as the primary interface between internal stakeholders and external discovery resources, aligning objectives and resolving technical or operational challenges.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of CRO partners and drive continuous improvement so deliverables meet internal quality and scientific standards.
  • Apply antibody engineering expertise, including affinity maturation, humanization, and liability assessment, to advance discovery leads toward developable candidates.
  • Champion AI-driven screening, machine learning-assisted design, and automated workflows to streamline discovery-to-candidate progression.
Desired Qualifications
  • Extensive industrial or advanced academic research experience.
  • Experience in bispecific or multispecific antibody discovery and/or nanobody/VHH programs.
  • Hands-on experience with bispecific or multispecific antibody discovery formats and/or nanobody/VHH discovery workflows.
  • Working knowledge of antibody engineering disciplines, including affinity maturation, humanization, liability engineering, and developability optimization.
  • Success managing complex, multi-stakeholder discovery programs, ideally involving CRO partnerships in a global and cross-cultural context.

Enable Injections wins first Japan approval for enFuse on-body injector via Sanofi's CirCLIQ

Enable Injections has won its first commercial product approval in Japan. The country's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare approved the company's enFuse On-Body Delivery System through Sanofi's CirCLIQ Injector. The device delivers a subcutaneous form of Sarclisa (isatuximab) with the push of a button, for treating multiple myeloma. It is the first anticancer treatment given through an on-body injector in Japan. The approval follows recent clearances in the US and Europe. Japan approved Sarclisa SC in June 2026, backed by the IRAKLIA phase 3 study, which showed the subcutaneous form was non-inferior to intravenous delivery. "We're proud to partner with Sanofi to bring our enFuse technology to patients in Japan," said Michael D. Hooven, chairman and chief executive officer of Enable.

Sanofi, Regeneron expand alliance in up to $8B deal for immunology drugs

France's Sanofi and US-based Regeneron Pharmaceuticals will expand their 20-year partnership to jointly develop and market immunology medicines in a deal worth up to $8 billion. Regeneron will receive $1 billion upfront, with potential additional payments of up to $7 billion tied to development, regulatory, and commercial targets. The collaboration will add four next-generation immunology drug candidates invented by Regeneron, with one currently in early-stage trials for eczema. The companies will equally share development costs and future profits from new drugs, whilst their existing profit-sharing agreement for top-selling medicine Dupixent remains unchanged. The deal settles prior litigation between the companies and marks an early move by Sanofi's new chief executive Belen Garijo to strengthen the company's pipeline.
