Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or General Educational Development certificate is required.
  • One to three years of applicable experience, including customer service and strong computer skills, is required.
  • Hospital or clinic setting office experience is preferred.
  • The candidate must be able to work with a diverse population, including critically injured, mentally disturbed, and belligerent individuals.
  • The candidate must be able to multitask in stressful, high-patient-volume settings.
  • The candidate must be able to learn in a classroom setting and utilize available resources.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately look up patients to ensure that the correct patient is registered.
  • Discern demographic and insurance information to ensure accurate registration.
  • Interpret information received from insurance payers regarding patient eligibility and financial responsibility.
  • Discuss the patient's financial obligation and collect payment by cash, credit card, or check.
  • Explain regulatory forms, answer patient questions, and obtain signatures.
  • Scan or manage online form templates to maintain the Electronic Health Record.
  • Comply with Federal, State, and Third Party Payer regulations applicable to hospital registration.
  • Work in multiple systems during telephone or patient-facing interactions to complete accurate registration and support clinical workflow.
