Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, or a related area and 5 or more years of post-bachelor experience performing statistical and actuarial analysis.
  • A graduate degree in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, or a related area and 3 years of experience performing statistical and actuarial analysis.
  • Completion of 5 or more actuarial exams.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills in a client-facing role.
  • A solid understanding of the market landscape.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and programming languages such as SQL, R, Python, and Radar.
  • Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without current or future immigration support.
  • At least 5 years of experience performing statistical and actuarial analysis on personal lines pricing insurance.
Responsibilities
  • Support commercial auto pricing, including individual account pricing and portfolio-level analyses.
  • Conduct statistically sound actuarial analysis by selecting appropriate data sources and making assumptions to develop pricing recommendations.
  • Evaluate analytical work completed by others and make decisions and recommendations that account for the internal and external environment.
  • Document assumptions, methods, sources, and considerations in an organized manner.
  • Prepare actuarial findings and documents suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in peer reviews to increase collaboration, ensure quality work, and drive innovation.
  • Collaborate with product management, finance, and claims teams to provide actuarial support.
  • Follow industry developments, trends, market landscapes, and emerging actuarial methods and tools.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to more junior colleagues.
  • Provide analytical support to other functions on an ad hoc basis.
  • Develop and analyze new methodologies for insurance rating and loss reserving.
  • Travel as needed for divisional, team, and other in-person meetings.
Desired Qualifications
  • Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society designation.
  • Actuarial analysis experience on commercial auto lines insurance.
  • Experience with MGA/program pricing, fronting, large deductibles, assumed reinsurance, or other non-standard risk-transfer structures.
  • Expert-level problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills, including the ability to give formal presentations.
  • In-depth actuarial industry knowledge and knowledge of the insurance marketplace.
  • Proven team leadership ability.
  • Effective problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Pattern-recognition skill and logic-based thinking.
  • Basic computer software programming skills.
  • Completion of five or more actuarial exams.
  • Active participation in employee resource groups or volunteering activities.
