Kickstarter is a global crowdfunding platform that helps people fund creative projects by allowing creators to set goals, present their ideas with videos and rewards, and gather pledges from a worldwide community. Projects use an all-or-nothing model: funds are released to the creator only if the goal is met by a deadline, otherwise no money is collected. The platform charges a 5% fee on successful campaigns plus 3-5% in processing fees, and creators are responsible for delivering the promised rewards to backers. Kickstarter is a Public Benefit Corporation, committing to social impact by not selling user data and by donating a portion of after-tax profits to arts education and organizations fighting inequality, with the goal of helping bring creative projects to life.
