Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, oral care, hair care, shaving, nail care, grooming, toileting, and eating.
  • Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and positioning using appropriate techniques and stretches, mechanical lifts, proper body mechanics, and other equipment designed to support patients and ergonomically assist the CNA.
  • Execute basic physical therapy tasks, including facilitating active and passive range-of-motion exercises and applying immobilizers, splints, and slings as needed.
  • Support residents during mealtimes by serving or feeding them and ensuring proper nutrition and hydration.
  • Maintain a clean and organized living environment, including changing linens, doing personal laundry, and tidying personal spaces while following infection-control protocols.
  • Respond promptly to resident requests through pagers and call lights, addressing needs with patience and kindness.
  • Collaborate with licensed nursing staff to implement care plans and provide high-quality, personalized care.
  • Accurately and promptly document resident information, including vital signs, intake and output measurements, and care provided.
  • Build positive relationships with residents and their families, providing emotional support and companionship as needed.
  • Participate in educational programs and training to enhance caregiving techniques and resident-care knowledge.
  • Follow facility policies and procedures, including infection-control protocols and safety guidelines within the CNA scope of practice.
  • Maintain required licenses, certifications, and competencies, and complete annual compliance courses on time.
  • Contribute to a welcoming environment for students and assist with their educational experience.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the role; some positions may include administrative functions.
  • Support and promote the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a long-term care or nursing home setting is preferred.
