About the job

Requirements
  • 3–7 years of hands-on experience in video production, editing, content creation, or a creative role at a social-first agency or direct-to-consumer brand.
  • A genuine, current feel for short-form social content, including the ability to identify what is working and describe the underlying craft decisions.
  • Ability to understand paid media and performance marketing reports to inform creative decisions.
  • Real editing experience, or close collaboration with editors, with fluency in editing terminology and workflows.
  • Enough on-set or production experience to identify when a storyboard will not translate and determine how to address it.
  • Ability to distinguish a good advertisement from a great one quickly and explain the reasons in actionable terms.
  • Ability to provide specific, timestamped, producible feedback.
  • High emotional intelligence when giving honest creative feedback.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a fast pace while building systems and operating at volume.
  • Fluent English and confidence presenting creative rationale to clients when needed.
Responsibilities
  • Review storyboards, raw footage when necessary, and final edits before they go to clients.
  • Act as the quality gate, clearly explaining what must change and why when work is not ready.
  • Build and maintain the advertisement example library, creative checklists, and “what good looks like” guides.
  • Identify recurring editing, storyboard, and hook problems and address them at their root.
  • Review raw footage after shoots and direct what is usable, what is not, and what should be done differently next time.
  • Give video editors precise feedback on pacing, cut points, text overlays, sound design, and other editing craft.
  • Direct static assets, thumbnail frames, and text treatments using design fundamentals appropriate for phone screens.
  • Explain what a 9:16 user-generated-content advertisement needs to accomplish in its first two seconds.
  • Review storyboards before shoots and identify what is not shootable as written, missing talent or set requirements, and brief or concept drift.
  • Give production the creative context needed to prepare for shoots, including important angles, editing needs, and quality expectations.
  • Periodically join high-stakes or new-format shoots at the Amsterdam studio, approximately three times per year.
  • Help build a visual reference library covering effective set styles, lighting setups, and shooting approaches.
  • Maintain a current, critical relationship with TikTok, Meta, and emerging short-form platforms.
  • Curate a regular inspiration feed with content examples, explanations of why they work, and applicable production ideas.
  • Evaluate formats and trends and make a case for adopting or skipping them.
  • Bring fresh creative references when the team’s output becomes formulaic or dated.
  • Give Creative Strategists feedback on creative strategy presentations and scripts to develop their creative judgment.
  • Run regular creative review sessions and inspiration shares.
  • Serve as the team’s trusted creative reviewer when work is not yet ready.
  • Approve Creative Milkshake’s social content and website portfolio.
  • Help define and document Creative Milkshake’s creative point of view, format instincts, aesthetic signatures, and distinctive content characteristics.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience as a video editor or post-production lead with a strong social creative eye.
  • Experience as a user-generated-content creator or content creator with a granular understanding of performance.
  • Experience as a creative producer working between strategy and production.
  • Experience as a social content lead or in-house creative at a direct-to-consumer brand.
