Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or any related field.
  • Prior experience as a Benefits Advisor or a Benefits Specialist.
  • Experience working with insurance and other benefits vendors.
  • Excellent knowledge of federal and state labor and benefits laws.
  • Working knowledge of the XY HRIS system.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Responsibilities
  • Define the needs and preferences of employees for different benefits programs.
  • Research benefits packages on the market, including health care, life and disability insurance, dental care, vision care, retirement planning, and commuter benefits, based on the set budget, and present proposals to management.
  • Provide information on eligibility requirements and assist employees in selecting appropriate benefits packages.
  • Oversee the enrollment process.
  • Handle minor claims issues and escalate larger problems to the benefits provider.
  • Organize regular or as-needed employee and management training sessions regarding changes and updates in benefits programs and policies.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for information on relevant government programs and legal requirements affecting insurance packages.
  • Interpret relevant Family and Medical Leave Act and Americans with Disabilities Act implications for management and employees.
  • Update and ensure the accuracy of benefits enrollment data in the human resources information system.
  • Compile reports on benefits utilization for management.
