About the job

Requirements
  • At least 7 years of experience in supply chain planning, sales and operations planning (S&OP), or demand planning in a hardware or industrial product environment.
  • Direct, hands-on experience standing up an S&OP or demand-capacity planning process from scratch, rather than only running or maintaining an existing process.
  • Hands-on experience implementing or owning an MRP or ERP planning module, including data setup and cutover.
  • Direct experience reconciling demand forecasts against manufacturing or supplier capacity constraints.
  • Hands-on materials execution experience, including purchase order management, supplier expediting, and build readiness tracking.
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills, including the ability to build planning tools in Excel or similar without a dedicated planning system.
  • Demonstrated ability to run a cross-functional process that aligns engineering, sales, and leadership around a shared plan.
Responsibilities
  • Build the initial planning cadence and tooling from scratch, including a rolling demand forecast, a capacity model spanning contract manufacturer throughput, equipment constraints, and cell supply, and a recurring review cycle with defined inputs, outputs, and decision owners.
  • Partner with sales and engineering to build and maintain the rolling demand forecast, and translate that forecast into a supply and capacity plan.
  • Run scenario planning against demand and supply variability, including acceleration, supplier slips, and capacity changes, so leadership has options before decisions are needed.
  • Identify capacity or supply constraints early and drive cross-functional decisions to resolve them before they become shortages; escalate unresolved constraints with clear options and trade-offs.
  • Own consigned material planning in partnership with the global supply management team.
  • Contribute to MRP selection if the decision is still open upon joining, and make a recommendation to the Vice President of Supply Chain.
  • Own MRP configuration and data integrity, including item master, bill of materials structure, lead times, planning parameters, and the interface with Arena.
  • Run MRP migration and cutover, and get the system supporting live planning ahead of the spring 2027 validation builds.
  • Drive MRP adoption across supply chain and other functions that need access, including program management and engineering.
  • Maintain MRP data in production.
  • Own the part shortage list and drive recovery plans to closure.
  • Place and manage purchase orders against the forecast and production schedule; follow up directly with suppliers on committed ship dates and expedite when orders are at risk.
  • Run material readiness reviews ahead of build events with contract manufacturers.
  • Partner with the sourcing and procurement team on supplier delivery performance and long-term capacity commitments.
  • Partner with supplier quality on shipments affected by a quality hold or corrective action.
  • Help define and hire for a dedicated materials execution role as volume grows, and transition day-to-day execution to that role once hired.
Desired Qualifications
  • Early-stage or resource-constrained company experience.
  • Experience in battery, energy storage, power electronics, or other hardware-adjacent categories.
  • Experience planning around long-lead, high-value components such as battery cells or semiconductors.
  • Experience standing up a planning system at a company without an IT or business systems function.
  • Experience working with a contract manufacturer in a component-direct sourcing model.
  • Experience scaling a company through a steep production ramp.

Echion and Proper Voltage partner to develop 1.6MW UPS platform for AI data centers.

Echion and Proper Voltage partner to develop 1.6MW UPS platform for AI data centers. 13 Oct 2026 By: IDCNOVA Region: North America Battery materials developer Echion Technologies has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with battery storage firm Proper Voltage to co-develop an integrated Uninterruptible Power Supply platform tailored for AI data centers, the two companies announced. The collaboration will see Echion's XNO battery technology integrated into Proper Voltage's existing 480V and 800V Vault UPS system, creating a unified product dubbed VaultX. According to the companies, the system will deliver 1.6MW of power and 84kWh of capacity in 480V or 800V rack configurations, with the aim of significantly shortening deployment timelines while mitigating the impact of power swings that are increasingly common in high-density AI compute environments. The partnership underscores a growing push across the data center industry to rethink power infrastructure as AI workloads place unprecedented demands on uptime, power quality, and operational resilience. Conventional UPS architectures, built around legacy battery chemistries, have struggled to keep pace with the rapid charge and discharge cycles required by modern AI facilities, where even brief power disturbances can disrupt training runs and inference services worth millions of dollars. Echion's XNO technology is an anode chemistry that the Cambridge, UK-based company says enables lithium-ion batteries to safely charge or discharge in three to six minutes across more than 50,000 cycles. That capability is central to the VaultX value proposition, according to Echion CEO Jean de La Verpilliere. "AI data centers need exactly what XNO was built for, which is extremely high charge and discharge rates sustained across tens of thousands of cycles," he said. "Our materials and cells are built for duty cycles that aren't survivable for conventional chemistries, and collaborating with Proper Voltage enables us to implement these capabilities in a market-leading UPS platform and ensure that operators can benefit from VaultX in the shortest possible amount of time." Proper Voltage, headquartered in Carlsbad, California, develops control and integration technology designed to help advanced batteries operate reliably in power systems without requiring complete redesigns. CEO Charlier Welch noted that the company's architecture was intentionally built for technology transitions. "Our architecture was purposely designed so that operators can adopt new and emerging battery technology without redesigning their power systems, which is why integrating XNO into our Vault architecture is straightforward," he said. "What this system changes for an operator is the business case." For data center operators, the implications extend beyond incremental hardware improvement. As AI clusters grow denser and more power-hungry, UPS systems are evolving from passive backup assets into active components of power management strategy. A platform capable of handling rapid, repeated charge-discharge cycles could reduce reliance on oversized battery banks, lower total cost of ownership, and improve grid-interactive capabilities. The MoU between Echion and Proper Voltage signals that battery innovation is becoming a competitive differentiator in the race to build AI-ready data center infrastructure.

Echion partners with Proper Voltage to develop 1.6MW UPS for AI data centers. Ink MoU to develop an integrated system October 12, 2026 Battery materials developer Echion Technologies has teamed up with battery storage firm Proper Voltage to develop an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) platform for AI data centers. The two companies signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate Echion's XNO battery technology into Proper Voltage's 480V and 800V Vault UPS system to create a unified system for the AI data center sector, dubbed VaultX. According to the companies, the system will integrate Echion's novel XNO anode material, which it claims can sustain symmetric high-rate charge and discharge, into Proper Voltage's existing UPS system. The companies claim the system, with 1.6MW of power, 84kWh capacity, and 480V or 800V rack configurations, will significantly shorten deployment timelines while mitigating the impact of power swings.
