Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • At least one year of experience with sponsored research is required, with National Institutes of Health experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office is required.
  • Previous work experience in an academic, university, or research setting is required.
  • Knowledge of relevant research computer software, including Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, Visio, and SunGard, is required.
  • Experience creating and analyzing statistical reports is required.
  • Ability to use computer technology to access data, maintain records, and generate reports is required.
  • Proven oral and written communication skills for interaction with other employees are required.
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and balance competing priorities is required.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare complex proposals within sponsored and non-sponsored research guidelines.
  • Develop, prepare, revise, and finalize project budgets and provide budget justification.
  • Collaborate with Sponsored Research Offices to ensure awards are properly set up, including cost-sharing requirements.
  • Review grant expenditures.
  • Develop and communicate reports supporting project status, and create forecasting and decision aids.
  • Manage the contract closeout process and audit inquiries.
  • Serve as a research administration subject matter expert.
  • Interpret complex university and government policies.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Negotiate and communicate with federal and state sponsors, industry sponsors, other institutions, and university schools or divisions regarding application issues, as needed.
