About the job

Requirements
  • Experience managing heavy civil, solar, battery energy storage system, substation, transmission, or underground infrastructure construction projects in the utility-scale market.
  • Demonstrated command of contracts, estimating handoffs, project budgets, forecasting, scheduling, and change management.
  • Ability to read construction plans, specifications, scope letters, and pricing schedules and translate them into execution requirements.
  • Willingness to travel nationwide as required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead assigned projects from estimating turnover and preconstruction through execution, customer acceptance, and final closeout.
  • Serve as the primary commercial and contractual point of contact for customers, general contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Establish project priorities, responsibilities, decision deadlines, and clear communication between all participating departments.
  • Own commitments, solve problems proactively, and escalate material risks with recommended solutions.
  • Own project budgets, cost coding, commitments, and reliable estimates at completion, including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and indirect costs.
  • Review budget versus actual costs, production-based earned hours, margin trends, and projected cost to complete with Field Operations.
  • Maintain accurate monthly forecasts, explain variances, and execute margin-protection and recovery plans.
  • Manage progress billings, payment applications, receivables, cash flow, and timely financial closeout.
  • Identify unbudgeted costs and pursue legitimate contractual cost recovery.
  • Lead scope-letter, proposal, pricing schedule, contract, drawings, specification, and exclusion reviews at project turnover.
  • Build a mobilization-driven preconstruction schedule covering permits, access, submittals, shop drawings, procurement, fabrication, and deliveries.
  • Confirm material quantities, vendor lead times, subcontractor commitments, and approval requirements.
  • Partner with Field Operations to align staffing, equipment, critical milestones, and the first two weeks of executable work.
  • Identify scope gaps, design conflicts, and unresolved prerequisites before mobilization.
  • Own the contractual master schedule, milestone tracking, customer coordination, and documentation of schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents on the two-week lookahead, predecessor work, constraints, inspections, and resource readiness.
  • Communicate major foundation placements, shutdowns, mobilizations, and critical-path milestones early enough for operational support.
  • Support recovery plans and timely decisions without displacing Field Operations authority over means, methods, crews, and daily production.
  • Ensure current approved drawings, submittals, changes, and customer direction reach field leadership.
  • Administer contractual notices, requests for information, submittals, correspondence, change directives, and required project records.
  • Identify, document, price, submit, negotiate, and track change orders, delays, differing conditions, and disruptions.
  • Capture supporting labor, equipment, material, and productivity records with Field Operations.
  • Maintain visibility into open commercial exposure, unresolved claims, and decisions required to protect R-2.
  • Coordinate safety, quality, testing, inspection, and corrective-action requirements with responsible field leaders.
  • Build trust through timely, accurate, professional communication and consistent delivery of commitments.
  • Provide concise weekly reporting on project financial health, schedule, change orders, constraints, risks, and leadership decisions.
  • Keep action registers current with owners and due dates; promptly communicate significant changes to cost, scope, or schedule.
  • Identify repeat-work opportunities and share lessons learned with estimating, procurement, and operations.
  • Coordinate punch lists, turnover documents, as-builts, warranties, final acceptance, and outstanding commercial items.
  • Close open commitments and change orders, reconcile final costs, and support collection of final payment.
  • Lead lessons-learned reviews and improve planning, reporting, and project delivery systems.
  • Own contractual and commercial administration, project forecasting, customer coordination, master scheduling, procurement coordination, and billing; collaborate with Field Operations on planning, cost control, and risk resolution.
  • Live, teach, defend, and reinforce the company’s core values.
Desired Qualifications
  • Hands-on field experience performing the work before moving into the project management department.
