About the company

Apollo Global Management invests money for pension funds, insurers, wealthy individuals and its own retirement business, with most of its assets in private credit, meaning loans arranged directly with companies rather than bought on public markets. It also runs private equity and real estate funds, and its buyout teams have a long record of backing troubled or complex companies. Apollo owns Athene, a retirement insurer that sells annuities and gives the premiums to Apollo to invest, so the firm earns fees from clients plus the spread between Athene's investment returns and what it pays policyholders. Apollo was founded in 1990 and is based in New York.

  • Money keeps arriving: Apollo took in $60 billion of inflows in the June 2026 quarter, $22 billion at Athene.
  • Apollo posted record results: adjusted net income reached $1.3 billion in the June 2026 quarter.
  • The fee income behind salaries is growing: Apollo's management fees rose 23% year over year in the June 2026 quarter.

What critics are saying

  • Retail clients want out: Apollo Debt Solutions withdrawal requests hit 16.8%, about $2.4 billion, in June 2026.
  • Apollo carries the credit risk itself: Athene must pay annuity holders even when the loans it buys go bad.
  • Equity pay has shrunk: Apollo shares fell 6% to $122.60 on June 24, 2026, after the second withdrawal cap.

What makes Apollo Global unique

  • Apollo owns its biggest client: it managed $415.7 billion for retirement insurer Athene as of June 2026.
  • Insurance spreads earn as much as fund fees: Q2 2026 spread earnings were $877 million versus $785 million in fees.
  • Lending, not buyouts, drives Apollo: 86% of its fee-earning assets sit in private credit.

Discover more Start Investing Plan Finances The initiative covers direct lending, asset-backed finance, multi-credit and opportunistic credit. According to Simply Wall St, Apollo plans to make asset-level pricing available for applicable funds beginning October 30, 2026. Three milestones define the rollout. The chronology shows a clear progression. On July 1, 2026, Apollo launched daily pricing for its investment-grade fixed-income replacement products, according to Simply Wall St. On August 4, 2026, Apollo reported second-quarter fee-related earnings of USD 785 million, up 25 percent from the prior-year quarter, as summarized by TickerScout. The October 2 expansion then extended daily pricing across the USD 850 billion credit platform, according to Simply Wall St. What does USD 850 billion mean? The figure is the scale of the credit platform rather than a new revenue measure. More frequent pricing, standardized asset information and secondary trading infrastructure are designed to give investors clearer visibility into private credit valuations. That matters because daily pricing is an estimated fair value, not a market-clearing transaction price, according to Simply Wall St. Two dates matter for Apollo. The next operational date is October 30, 2026, when asset-level pricing is expected to begin for applicable funds. Apollo's next reporting date is November 3, 2026, before the New York Stock Exchange opens, according to Apollo Global Management. For the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, Apollo estimated alternative net investment income of USD 375 million before tax, equivalent to a 10 percent annualized return. The estimate was disclosed in an October 5, 2026 filing by Apollo Global Management. Discover more investment Read Economics Track Investments Euro quote for German investors. UK's biggest port operator valued at £10 billion in stake sale.

UK's biggest port operator valued at £10 billion in stake sale. (Bloomberg) - Australian pension fund investor IFM Investors has taken a 64% stake in Associated British Ports in one of the biggest UK deals of the year. The purchase values the UK's largest port operator at about £10 billion ($13.4 billion), according to a person familiar with the matter, who asked not to be identified discussing confidential information. IFM, which already owns European ports including in Poland and Turkey, beat out rivals including Apollo Global Management Inc. and KKR & Co., which Bloomberg News reported were also vying for the stake. Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Omers each sold their stakes in the company, which has 19 facilities, according to a statement Tuesday. The investors had been invested since 2015 and 2006, respectively. The deal is one of the largest in the UK this year, with others including Nuveen's £9.9 billion purchase of asset manager Schroders Plc and Apollo's £5.7 billion takeover of budget airline EasyJet Plc. The AB Ports deal is subject to the normal shareholder and regulatory approvals and is expected to complete in the first half of 2027. (C) 2026 Bloomberg L.P.

Daiichi Life bids $4.4B to take full control of Australia's Challenger.

Daiichi Life bids $4.4B to take full control of Australia's Challenger. Daiichi's Tetsuya Kikuta started building the firm's stake in Challenger in April 2025 (Image: Dai-Ichi Life) Japanese life insurer Daiichi Life has offered A$6.3 billion ($4.4 billion) for the 79.5 percent of Australian annuity provider Challenger Ltd that it doesn't own, a deal that values the Sydney-based company at about A$8 billion and would give Daiichi greater access to the world's fourth-biggest retirement savings pool. Daiichi's TAL Daiichi Life Australia unit has offered A$11.80 per share through a scheme of arrangement for the rest of Challenger, the ASX-listed target said in a statement on Monday. That is a 17.7 percent premium to Challenger's one-month volume weighted average price of A$10.03. The buyout offer comes about 18 months after Daiichi started building its stake in Challenger, which manages A$128 billion in assets and provides financial products aimed at retirees. If the deal goes ahead, Daiichi would also control an Australian property portfolio that was valued at A$2.1 billion when Charter Hall took over its management last year. Challenger received the approach after the market closed on 16 October, and said its board is considering the offer. Daiichi Life, in a separate statement, said it has made no decision on whether to proceed with a binding transaction. Shares of Challenger surged more than 19 percent to A$11.75 in Sydney trading on Monday. Daiichi Life gained 1.7 percent to JPY 1,872 in Tokyo. Stake by stake. Daiichi's TAL unit first moved on Challenger in April 2025, when it agreed to buy a 15.1 percent stake held by MS&AD Insurance Group for JPY 80 billion ($506 million), a 53 percent premium to Challenger's share price at the time. The unit's chief executive, Fiona Macgregor, described that purchase as "an extension of our commitment to supporting Australians' financial needs" in retirement. Two months later, Daiichi agreed to buy a further 4.8 percent of Challenger from a fund controlled by Apollo Global Management for about A$247 million. The two purchases together cost JPY 103 billion for 19.9 percent of Challenger, and Daiichi expected the holding to add roughly JPY 8 billion to JPY 11 billion to annual earnings. Daiichi's case for the deal rests on the outlook for the retirement savings pool in Australia, which the Super Members Council forecasts will surpass the UK in 2030 and Canada by 2031, making it the world's largest after the US. Daichii in July said the group plans about JPY 1.5 trillion in strategic investments between FY2026 and FY2030, with roughly 70 percent going to developed markets. The full Challenger buyout, at about JPY 695 billion, would use close to half of that budget, according to a Mingtiandi calculation. Property mandate shuffle. Challenger's real estate business has changed twice in recent years. Challenger first sold its real estate fund management business to Elanor Investors Group for A$38 million in 2023. That deal moved about A$3.4 billion of Challenger Life and third-party funds across retail, office and industrial assets to Elanor. In July 2025, Elanor and Challenger agreed to unwind the mandate. Elanor kept managing the portfolio until 15 October 2025, when it was valued at A$2.1 billion. The unwind was part of a recapitalisation in which Singapore's Rockworth Capital Partners agreed to invest up to A$125 million in Elanor. Elanor officially changed its name to Kyron Capital Group earlier this year. Charter Hall group chief executive David Harrison said after talking over the Challenger mandate that his firm would focus on "implementing strategies to maximise long-term value for this quality core portfolio." Challenger was founded in 1985. It runs Challenger Life, the regulated annuity insurer, and a funds management arm that comprises Challenger Investment Management, which manages fixed income, and Fidante, which partners with other managers on equity, fixed income and alternatives. Challenger is merging Fidante with Channel Capital and will own 45 percent of the combined business. The company reported normalised profit after tax of A$467.6 million and statutory profit of A$505.6 million in the year ended June, and said its results were helped by "positive revaluations on the Australian property portfolio". Challenger has not disclosed the current make-up of its portfolio. Daiichi's two earlier Challenger share purchases required clearance from Australia's Foreign Investment Review Board and from the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority. A full takeover is likely to again require clearances from both agencies.

Anthropic is in advanced discussions to acquire roughly $45 billion in computing power from Nvidia-backed cloud infrastructure firm Nscale, according to reports. The prospective agreement centers on a second facility at Nscale's Monarch data center campus in West Virginia. The new building is slated to generate 460 megawatts of computing capacity powered by Nvidia's next-generation Vera Rubin chips. An agreement could materialize in the coming days. The West Virginia campus was initially slated to house infrastructure for Microsoft, which signed a preliminary letter of intent in March. However, Microsoft withdrew from the site, clearing the way for Anthropic. Anthropic already has existing infrastructure commitments with Nscale valued at approximately $44.6 billion, according to regulatory filings. General Atlantic prepares IPO that could value asset manager at US$ 10 billion.

General Atlantic prepares IPO that could value asset manager at US$ 10 billion. American company resumes plans to go public in the first half of 2027 to finance business expansion Chat with Read the article summary General Atlantic, the American asset manager that manages more than US$ 130 billion in assets, has resumed plans to go public. The company is expected to be valued at up to US$ 10 billion in its initial public offering (IPO). The company had already taken the first steps toward a listing in 2023, but postponed the operation due to market conditions. Now, the offering is planned for the first half of 2027, according to information from the Financial Times (FT). The move is part of General Atlantic's strategy to finance business expansion and gain scale to compete with publicly traded rivals such as Blackstone, KKR and Apollo Global Management, in a private investment market estimated at US$ 24 trillion. Known for investing in technology and high-growth companies, the asset manager was one of the first investors in companies such as Facebook and Alibaba. In Latin America, General Atlantic has a history of investments in companies such as Mercado Livre, XP Investimentos, QuintoAndar and Kavak, a Mexican platform for buying and selling used vehicles. Follow Neofeed on social media and get more information. In the Brazilian market, it has also invested in businesses such as Neon, QI Tech, Arco Educação and Unico, in sectors ranging from financial services to education and technology. Over the last few years, General Atlantic has also expanded its operations beyond investments in growth companies. The asset manager acquired Iron Park Capital, specialized in credit, and Actis, focused on infrastructure, in addition to advancing into segments such as secondary investments and reinsurance. According to the FT, going public would allow it to accelerate this diversification and expand its service structure for institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals. The company also seeks to take advantage of interest in funds that invest in expanding companies without necessarily taking control of the businesses, in contrast to leveraged buyout deals. More recently, the asset manager even considered a stock market debut in the fourth quarter of 2026. However, it again postponed the plans due to factors such as market volatility and the geopolitical and macroeconomic context. In this scenario, the new timeline would allow the company to evaluate its 2026 financial results and the performance of a potential IPO by Anthropic before moving ahead with its own offering. There is still no definitive decision on the transaction, and the timeline may undergo further changes, according to the FT. General Atlantic did not comment on the matter. Chat with
