Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, technical sciences, or another related field, or equivalent years of experience in lieu of the education requirement where applicable.
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role over Product Engineering and Product Development functions.
  • At least 7 years of experience working with a broad range of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • At least 3 years of experience co-creating with designers and bringing products to production with overseas suppliers and engineers.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing complex programs.
  • Experience with creative problem solving and working cross-functionally with design and manufacturing to achieve cost targets, desired design intent, and project deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and/or facilitating projects.
  • Technical report writing skills, effective oral presentation skills, and the ability to negotiate.
  • Excellent aptitude in mechanical, electrical, or other engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities
  • Provide quality assurance leadership for strategic Global Merchandising product development projects, Product Line Reviews, and private- and national-brand initiatives.
  • Oversee product and quality engineering activities across assigned categories, supporting new product launches, existing product enhancements, and vendor relationships.
  • Establish methods for assessing project scope through critical thinking and stakeholder input, recommending effective quality assurance processes such as stage-gate reviews, APQP workbooks, and related documentation.
  • Ensure clear communication, disciplined follow-through, and on-time completion of project plans; hold the Quality Assurance Engineering team accountable for deliverables through consistent oversight and progress reviews.
  • Guide team members toward optimal solutions and model best practices that build alignment and support effective decision-making.
  • Drive awareness and alignment around strategic initiatives and key decisions to ensure organizational buy-in and impact.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance Systems & Process and Lowe's Tech to develop tools and systems that increase effectiveness and efficiency, and establish procedures to manage projects, testing programs, and supplier quality.
  • Provide guidance for new item tracking, specification and protocol testing, claims validation, and data analysis to deliver actionable insights.
  • Direct the prioritization of customer return reviews to maximize impact, and drive adoption of product change requests and corrective action planning with internal teams and vendors.
  • Identify and champion forward-looking initiatives to streamline quality assurance processes and align with global quality assurance teams.
  • Oversee the creation of Lowe's Private Brand performance specifications, including test planning, benchmarking, product testing, and implementation of performance standards.
  • Implement governance and reporting mechanisms to ensure vendor compliance with Lowe's quality assurance testing requirements.
  • Leverage systems, communication tools, and training resources to support vendor testing activities, focusing on Domestic Private Brand items.
  • Review failed test reports, align stakeholders on resolutions, and drive revisions to performance specifications as needed.
  • Develop expertise in Lowe's Private Brand Packaging approval process to ensure appropriate Quality Assurance Engineering support and escalation.
  • Evaluate vendor data and third-party reports to validate packaging claims for Lowe's Private Brands.
  • Deliver expert recommendations to Packaging and Legal teams regarding claim validity using industry knowledge and testing expertise.
  • Establish frameworks, data, and processes to guide Quality Assurance Engineers in improving customer satisfaction, product quality, and performance using VOC data and quality assurance metrics.
  • Provide actionable insights and quality support to Merchandising, PDM, vendors, and cross-functional partners.
  • Collaborate with vendors and enterprise teams to prioritize corrective actions based on risk and business impact.
  • Coach the team on best practices for executing containment and product service projects, including stop sales, distribution-center holds, and reworks, ensuring effective communication with Quality Assurance leadership and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders to drive visibility, alignment, and collaboration across Quality Assurance and Merchandising workstreams.
  • Foster partnerships with international quality assurance teams in Shanghai, India, and Vietnam, cross-functional enterprise groups, and external vendors and laboratories to achieve shared quality goals.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of design, manufacturing, engineering, and testing principles across assigned categories.
  • Represent Lowe's in trade-specific committees and maintain relevant professional memberships and certifications.
  • Attract, develop, and retain Quality Assurance talent, building a high-performing team aligned with Lowe's business goals and values.
  • Promote a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative work environment that supports innovation, accountability, and growth.
  • Hold Quality Assurance Engineers accountable for performance while supporting their career development and alignment with Lowe's core behaviors and leadership expectations.
  • Provide meaningful, timely feedback and coaching to increase visibility into performance impact and development opportunities.

Target raises dividend to $1.16, Lowe's to $1.25 as retailers defend payout streaks

Target raised its quarterly dividend to $1.16 from $1.14, whilst Lowe's increased its payout to $1.25 from $1.20. Both retailers reported second-quarter results on 19 August 2026. Target's increase follows a period of flat dividends and comes after a tariff refund boosted quarterly earnings. The company yields 2.8% and paid $518 million in dividends during the quarter. Chief financial officer Jim Lee stated the firm prioritises business investment first, dividends second, and buybacks last. Lowe's generated $3.1 billion in free cash flow against $673 million in dividends. However, the company faces balance sheet challenges, with negative shareholders' equity of $7.44 billion and debt-to-EBITDA of 3.0 times following recent acquisitions. Management aims to reduce leverage to 2.75 times by mid-2027. Lowe's yields 2.4%.

Major US retailers pocket $5B in tariff refunds as Walmart gets $2.9B, Target $994M, but shoppers see little benefit

Major US retailers have received over $5 billion in tariff refunds this week alone, with Walmart getting $2.9 billion, Target $994 million, and Home Depot $730 million. The Trump administration is refunding approximately $166 billion in tariff revenue after the Supreme Court struck down its sweeping tariff policy, having returned $100 billion so far. Despite studies showing consumers bore the brunt of initial tariff costs through higher prices, most companies are reinvesting the refunds rather than passing savings to shoppers. Retail executives indicated in earnings calls they plan to put the money back into their businesses. Consumers have filed class-action lawsuits against companies receiving refunds, but none have concluded. Americans have limited recourse to recover funds if companies don't voluntarily lower prices.

Lowe's CEO warns of cautious consumer spending amid macro and geopolitical uncertainty

Lowe's reported mixed second-quarter results, with revenue falling short of analyst expectations due to pressure on DIY consumer spending. The DIY segment represents 60-65% of Lowe's revenue. Lowe's reported second-quarter sales of $26 billion, up 8.3% year-over-year, with comparable sales rising 0.2%. Lowe's Q2 sales reach $26B with 0.2% comparable growth, updates 2026 outlook

Lowe's reported second quarter 2026 net earnings of $2.4 billion with diluted earnings per share of $4.27, matching the prior year. Total sales reached $26.0 billion, up from $24.0 billion in the second quarter of 2025. Comparable sales increased 0.2%, driven by strong performance in professional services and a 15.7% increase in online sales, offset by DIY market pressures. The company recognised $96 million in pre-tax expenses related to acquisitions of Foundation Building Materials and Artisan Design Group. Excluding these expenses, adjusted diluted EPS increased 1.6% to $4.40. Lowe's updated its full-year 2026 outlook, maintaining total sales guidance at $92.0 billion but lowering comparable sales expectations from up to 2% growth to flat. The company paid $673 million in dividends during the quarter and operated 1,761 stores as of 31 July 2026.
