Location: Bay Area / Hybrid
As the Program Manager, you will be tasked with leading and managing a diverse portfolio of IT projects, ensuring they meet scope, budget, and schedule requirements. Operating under general direction, you will exercise sound judgment in overseeing all facets of project governance. The projects you will manage often span multiple years and can be highly visible within the organization. This role requires expertise in guiding cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams while utilizing advanced project management methodologies to achieve successful outcomes.
Your Day-to-Day Activities:
Program Management:
·Oversee and guide multiple IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and timelines.
·Create and maintain comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource management, and risk mitigation strategies.
·Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
·Monitor project progress, lead meetings, document discussions, and ensure timely follow-up on action items.·
·Presentation and Communication:
·Design and deliver impactful PowerPoint presentations that simplify complex business challenges, update project statuses, and propose solutions for senior management and executive teams.
·Clearly communicate project updates, risks, and issues to stakeholders.
·Facilitate meetings and presentations, ensuring the information is delivered clearly and effectively.
Financial Management:
·Develop and oversee project budgets, ensuring resources are utilized cost-effectively.
·Monitor and report on financial performance, including variance analysis and forecasting.
·Ensure that project spending aligns with overall program objectives and financial targets.
Vendor Management:
·Develop and execute a comprehensive vendor management strategy that aligns with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
·Maintain a centralized repository of vendor information, including contracts, performance metrics, and contact details.
·Build and sustain strong relationships with vendors and external partners.
·Monitor vendor compliance and performance against contract terms.
·Lead a team in conducting regular vendor assessments to evaluate performance, develop scorecards, identify improvement areas, and maintain alignment with project goals.
·Work closely with IT operations, sourcing, and legal teams to represent IT cohesively to external vendors.
·Provide leadership and support to the tactical Vendor Management team to drive high performance and continuous improvement.
·Regularly review and update vendor management policies and procedures to reflect business changes.
·Identify opportunities for cost savings, risk reduction, and performance enhancement through effective vendor management.
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire project teams, promoting a collaborative and high-performance environment.
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure project goals align with business objectives.
- Act as the primary point of contact for project-related questions and issue resolution.
You’ll be prepared for this job if you have…
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in IT program/project management.
- Demonstrated expertise in creating compelling PowerPoint presentations for executive-level audiences.
- Strong financial management abilities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex information.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools (e.g., PMP, Agile, MS Project).
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
