Requirements
- A valid Class A or B commercial driver’s license with hazmat endorsement is required.
- Ability to repeatedly lift 75–100 pounds is required.
- Some previous experience transporting hazardous materials is required.
- A pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens are required.
- Fluent English is required to communicate with customers.
- Willingness to load or package customer items when requested is required.
- Willingness to attend a weekly half-day meeting at the San Francisco office is required.
- At least 2–3 years of commercial driver’s license driving experience, a safe driving record, and at least one year of recent, verifiable commercial driving experience within the past five years are required.
- A current, valid Department of Transportation medical card is required.
- No Department of Transportation-recordable accidents in the past year is required.
- In the past three years, no more than one major moving violation, no more than three moving violations of any kind, and no more than two preventable accidents are allowed.
- In the past five years, no license suspensions or revocations due to moving violations, no record of operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked license, and no reckless-driving conviction are allowed.
- In the past seven years, no driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, or moving violation connected with a fatal accident is allowed.
- The company is unable to sponsor work visas at this time.
Responsibilities
- Drive a boxed truck on a routine weekly route to pick up well-packaged hazardous materials from customer sites and deliver them to the warehouse in the East Bay and end facilities in California.
- Treat customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Maintain a safe work zone at each job site.
- Adhere to the assigned delivery schedule and follow job directives precisely.
- Document every step of each delivery, including handing customers their waste documentation.
- Complete a thorough truck load check before leaving each location, ensure delivery materials are secured, and ensure all truck components comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Complete and file all logs and required government paperwork precisely and on time.
- Perform light warehouse work as assigned, including loading and unloading materials on and off trucks or into the warehouse.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience lab-packing chemicals is highly preferred.
