Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of imaging.
  • At least 1 year of experience with general magnetic resonance imaging examinations, implants, elastography, and defecography.
  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R).
  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT), or obtain registration within 1 year in the position.
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required from the American Heart Association or an American Red Cross equivalent.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be able to learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment as required.
  • Must be able to deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Must be able to perform the listed physical functions, including standing, walking, bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, reaching, repetitive hand and arm movements, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and assist with lifting and moving patients weighing approximately 350 pounds.
  • Must maintain corrected 20/40 vision, hearing acuity, depth perception, peripheral vision, tactile sensory function, and other listed sensory capabilities.
  • Must be physically qualified by medical personnel for respirator use, initially and annually.
Responsibilities
  • Perform high-quality magnetic resonance imaging examinations in accordance with established protocols for physician interpretation.
  • Complete patient screening, examination documentation, and image verification in radiology information systems and picture archiving and communication systems.
  • Maintain image quality, productivity, and patient throughput.
  • Deliver safe, compassionate, patient-centered care throughout the imaging process.
  • Adhere to magnetic resonance imaging safety protocols, including zone safety procedures, implant screening, and ferromagnetic safety practices.
  • Use the SHIELD reporting platform to document and escalate events outside normal clinical encounters.
  • Follow departmental policies, modality standards, and organizational compliance requirements.
  • Perform routine equipment quality-control checks and assist with troubleshooting and service-ticket submission as needed.
  • Support onboarding, training, and education of staff and students.
  • Participate in performance-improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, safety, and patient, employee, and physician satisfaction.
  • Attend staff meetings, in-services, lunch-and-learns, and quality-improvement meetings.
  • Rotate to other locations as needed for training and staffing.
