About the job

Requirements
  • Experience working in a trading, commodities, or financial-markets environment, with a working understanding of how a front-to-back trade lifecycle fits together, or the ability to learn it quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to prototype solutions and apply thoughtful design, execution, testing, and support.
  • Hands-on SQL capability to query data and answer questions; deep Oracle or query-optimization expertise is not required.
  • High initiative and resourcefulness to drive work forward independently.
  • Curiosity and comfort adopting new technology, with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving ability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to work effectively across groups and influence at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with front-, middle-, and back-office stakeholders, including traders, risk, operations, finance, and IT, to understand problems and deliver solutions across the metals trade lifecycle.
  • Prototype, build, and iterate on working proofs of concept, applying thoughtful design, execution, testing, and ongoing support.
  • Use SQL to explore trade, position, profit-and-loss, and risk data, investigate questions, reconcile across systems, and produce actionable analysis.
  • Learn the end-to-end trade lifecycle on Trinity—including trade capture, pricing, exposure, mark-to-market, profit and loss, confirmations, settlements, invoicing, warrant management, and regulatory reporting—and help validate changing flows.
  • Lead requirements discussions with traders and operations; document current and future processes and translate them into specifications, user stories, and process maps.
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline work, including through artificial intelligence and modern tooling.
  • Support user acceptance testing planning and execution, defect management, and stakeholder sign-off for Trinity changes and adjacent system work.
  • Balance priorities across trader-driven enhancements, risk and regulatory commitments, and platform health.
  • Build relationships across London, Wichita, and other Koch metals locations, and communicate status, risks, and trade-offs to business and IT partners.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting a metals or commodities trading business and familiarity with the physical or financial trade lifecycle, including trade capture, pricing, exposure, profit and loss, confirmations, settlements, invoicing, and warrant management.
  • Hands-on experience with a commodity trading and risk management or energy trading and risk management platform across front, middle, and back office; experience with Trinity by Quoreka is a plus.
  • Familiarity with precious metals markets, including gold, silver, and platinum, and base metals markets, including copper, aluminum, zinc, nickel, lead, and tin.
  • Working knowledge of London Metal Exchange warranting, position limits, and post-trade transparency; awareness of UK EMIR REFIT and MiFID II transaction and commodity-position reporting.
  • Knowledge of trading risk concepts including mark-to-market, profit-and-loss attribution, exposure, margin, and credit.
  • Experience implementing artificial intelligence or automation-driven solutions to improve trading or back-office workflows.
  • Experience with system integrations to enterprise resource planning systems, data warehouses, market data providers such as Bloomberg and Refinitiv, and exchange or clearing interfaces.
  • Experience with Microsoft toolsets and AWS cloud services.
  • A degree in a quantitative, technical, or business field such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science; equivalent industry experience is considered.

About the company

Koch Industries is a large, private, diversified conglomerate that operates in energy, chemical processing, and manufacturing. It started from an innovation that turned heavy crude oil into gasoline and grew through long‑term investments rather than short‑term market moves. The company generates value by refining fuels and producing chemical products, and it operates Georgia-Pacific, a major maker of paper and building products. Its business model relies on reinvesting most earnings back into the company to fund steady, long‑term growth rather than paying out frequent dividends or seeking quick profits. Koch differentiates itself from many competitors by staying privately owned, which reduces pressure from public markets and enables longer‑range planning. The company’s goal is to build scale and durability across its holdings by sustainable, multi‑decade growth rather than rapid, episodic gains.
