About the job

Requirements
  • A professional education in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials, Polymers, Food, Pharmacy, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Nanotechnology, or a related career with a strong technical foundation.
  • At least 3 years of B2B technical sales experience, preferably selling scientific instrumentation, analytical equipment, laboratory equipment, rheometers, viscometers, thermal analysis, or solutions for formulation, research and development, and quality control.
  • Experience prospecting, opening new accounts, developing opportunities, and building a pipeline; this is not a role for someone focused only on maintaining existing accounts.
  • Ability to understand a technical need and convert it into a valuable commercial proposal while maintaining focus on opportunity progress, negotiation, and closing.
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including formulators, researchers, engineers, quality, production, laboratory, procurement, and management personnel.
  • Strong results orientation and discipline in meeting objectives and systematically following up on opportunities.
  • Experience using customer relationship management or enterprise resource planning systems, forecasting, and commercial follow-up methodologies.
  • Availability for frequent travel within and outside Mexico.
  • Ability to drive and availability for road travel.
  • Intermediate conversational English is required for training and technical communication.
Responsibilities
  • Develop sales of the rheology and differential scanning calorimetry portfolio in the assigned territory, devoting most commercial effort to rheology solutions.
  • Prospect and develop new customers in sectors including paints and coatings, polymers, adhesives, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, chemicals, petrochemicals, lubricants, batteries, academia, research and development, and quality control.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from identifying opportunities and technical qualification through solution presentation, proposal preparation, negotiation, and closing.
  • Identify rheology applications related to viscosity and flow curves, yield stress, thixotropy, viscoelasticity, formulation stability, and behavior dependent on time, temperature, and frequency.
  • Identify differential scanning calorimetry opportunities for characterizing thermal transitions, glass transition temperature, melting, crystallization, curing, oxidative stability, polymorphism, compatibility, and purity, according to the application.
  • Deliver technical-commercial presentations and coordinate rheometer and differential scanning calorimetry demonstrations, with support from application specialists when needed.
  • Advise customers on selecting suitable solutions based on sample, formulation, process, temperature range, test method, automation level, and measurement objectives.
  • Develop long-term relationships with formulators, researchers, laboratory, quality, research and development, production, process, and procurement personnel, and decision-makers.
  • Meet quarterly and annual sales targets and commercial indicators defined by management.
  • Keep the customer relationship management system updated with opportunities, activities, forecasts, commercial follow-up, and pipeline stages.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities with other company product lines.
  • Provide post-sale follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction, strengthen relationships, and identify new business opportunities.
  • Participate in technical and commercial training, trade fairs, seminars, workshops, and specialized events in Mexico and abroad.
Desired Qualifications
  • Direct sales or applications experience in rheology or viscometry, or experience selling instrumentation to industries where formulation and flow behavior are critical; direct rheology or viscometry experience is prioritized, although specific differential scanning calorimetry experience is not required.
  • Experience selling, applying, or technically using rotational or oscillatory rheometers, laboratory viscometers, or flow and viscoelasticity characterization systems.
  • Experience developing, formulating, or performing quality control for paints, coatings, inks, adhesives, asphalt, cosmetics, pharmaceutical products, food, or chemical formulations.
  • Experience with rheological tests such as flow curves, yield stress, thixotropy, amplitude, frequency, or temperature sweeps, structural recovery, creep, or relaxation.
  • Experience characterizing polymers, elastomers, resins, melts, slurries, suspensions, emulsions, gels, pastes, or battery materials.
  • Experience in thermal analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, dynamic mechanical analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, or related techniques.
  • Knowledge of differential scanning calorimetry applications in polymers or pharmaceuticals, including glass transition temperature, melting, crystallization, curing, stability, polymorphism, or purity.
  • Familiarity with rotational and oscillatory rheometry for liquids, semisolids, dispersions, emulsions, gels, pastes, and complex materials; viscosity measurement, flow curves, yield stress, thixotropy, viscoelasticity, creep, relaxation, and structural recovery; amplitude, frequency, time, and temperature sweeps; normal-force control and advanced application accessories; systems and accessories for formulation, quality control, polymers, powder rheology, tribology, and specialized characterization; and differential scanning calorimetry for glass transition temperature, melting, crystallization, curing, oxidative stability, heat capacity, and thermal characterization of materials. Differential scanning calorimetry knowledge may be developed through technical training and support from application specialists.
