Requirements
  • A Master’s degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, Applied Behavior Analysis, Behavioral Medicine, Speech and Language, Rehabilitation, or a related field is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and car insurance are required.
  • A TB test and criminal background clearance are required.
  • At least one year of experience designing and implementing adaptive skills training plans is required.
  • At least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct sessions.
  • Provide feedback to parents.
  • Collaborate with team members, parents, and adaptive skills therapist providers.
  • Write notes and reports.
  • Review notes and reports.
  • Attend staff, clinical, and mentor meetings.
  • Record data.
  • Ensure that data and notes are properly recorded.
  • Comply with HIPAA laws and regulations.
  • Teach adaptive skills to children or adults between the ages of 5 and 65.
  • Schedule daily or weekly meetings with families and ensure adaptive skills training is delivered according to program goals and objectives.
  • Complete daily activity logs, data sheets, sign-in sheets, and monthly goal percentages.
  • Travel to clients’ homes and work on independent or family goals, including socialization, self-care, daily living, financial independence, vocational exploration, and social or leisure activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • The ability to lift more than 50 pounds is preferred.
  • CPR, HIPAA, Safety First, and mandated-reporting training are preferred.
  • A clean driving record for two years is preferred.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA is preferred.
  • The ability to be hired directly by the agency rather than contracted is preferred.
  • Three to four years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Licensure, registration, or certification in human services, occupational therapy, special education, psychology, nursing, creative arts therapy, speech and language therapy, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), or Developmental, Individual-difference, Relationship-based (DIR) approaches, along with five years of human services experience, is preferred.
