Personal Support Worker
About the job
- Have a valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities or Ministry of Education approved program; alternatively, be an RN/RPN student who has successfully completed at least year one, or be an internationally licensed nurse, midwife, or physician.
- Have the physical ability to meet the job demands, including standing, bending, walking, crouching, kneeling, and reaching for extended periods; independently lifting 23 kg; assisting clients with standing, walking, and sitting; and repositioning clients in bed.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide personal care and customer service.
- Have valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR.
- Have a valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check.
- Provide an updated immunization record, including a TB test from within the last 12 months.
- Have proficient verbal and written English communication skills.
- Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, toileting, skincare, light meal preparation, and feeding, in personal residences or facilities.
- Continually assess, anticipate, identify, and respond to patients’ changing needs, and communicate available Total Care resources to patients when appropriate.
- Perform delegated or assigned tasks under the supervision of a Home Support Supervisor.
- Travel within the assigned region between patients’ residences or facilities.
- Additional language skills are considered an asset.
