Requirements
  • Strong understanding of clinical research conduct, including Good Clinical Practice and International Council for Harmonisation guidelines, with knowledge of standard and novel investigational therapies across Phase I, II, and III trials.
  • Experience reviewing and verifying the timely and accurate submission of clinical trial data and reporting findings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with institutional faculty, administrators, staff, industry sponsors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to work flexibly, multitask, switch priorities, and work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • High-level communication skills, including handling difficult conversations and presenting information.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, attention to detail, complex problem-solving ability, and ability to handle multiple projects or problems simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collegially and cooperatively and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Skill in interacting with people from varied social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • High integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Access to transportation for off-site research locations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and ability to learn new software and web interfaces quickly.
  • Three to five years of related work experience with a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct and assist with internal quality assurance monitoring and auditing activities for assigned clinical research studies at all participating sites under the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.
  • Review regulatory compliance, subject management, data compliance, and Investigational Drug Service and pharmacy research activities under the direction of the Quality Assurance Officer.
  • Monitor and audit clinical data, including informed consent processes and documentation, subject eligibility, electronic medical records, serious adverse events and adverse events, Investigational Drug Service and pharmacy records, deviations, regulatory compliance, protocol compliance, university policies, and federal regulations.
  • Lead and coordinate external audits under the direction of the Quality Assurance Officer.
  • Communicate with auditors, Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center research staff, and institutional research oversight offices and committees regarding audit dates and pertinent details.
  • Work with study teams to prepare all relevant and requested documents for external audits.
  • Serve as a point of contact for external audits and facilitate communication among all parties.
  • Oversee the corrective and preventive action process to ensure completion, implementation, and effectiveness.
Desired Qualifications
  • Society of Clinical Research Administrators or Association of Clinical Research Professionals certification, or professional certification in Regulatory, Quality Assurance, or Clinical Research, or equivalent.
  • Experience monitoring or auditing Food and Drug Administration-regulated studies for highly complex clinical trials.
  • Experience with cancer-related research.
  • Knowledge of various types of human-subject clinical trials, including National Group, Industrial, and Investigator-authored trials.
  • Clinical Trial Professional certification from a professional society.
