Plumerai provides licensable AI software for embedded devices like cameras and IoT, enabling manufacturers to add AI capabilities via a software update. Its product uses a two-layer approach: on-device Tiny AI runs fast, low-power detection and recognition (e.g., people, vehicles, faces) with local data processing, while more complex analysis is handled by cloud-based Vision LLMs for features like AI Video Search and AI Captions. This hybrid setup lowers cloud costs and keeps processing fast and private, differentiating itself by offering a full-stack, field-updatable solution rather than only cloud services and by emphasizing on-device processing to reduce false alarms and power use. The company aims to scale from smart home security to enterprise security, smart retail, elder care, and other IoT markets, partnering with manufacturers such as the Chamberlain Group to grow its edge AI and video analytics business.
