- Deliver 1:1 direct ABA treatment to clients to increase skills, decrease problem behaviors and strengthen the behavioral supports in place
- Work closely with the supervising BCBA and other team members to ensure high quality service delivery
- Support parent and caregiver training as directed by the BCBA
- Collect data and document client records to monitor progress and to enable the best possible treatment decisions
- Communicate regularly with parents, supervisor(s), and others as necessary to inform and improve treatment plans
- Provide services to clients in center, home, school, or other location(s) as clinically indicated
- Schedule may include driving between clients
- Certification as Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is highly preferred
- At least 1-2 years experience working with children is highly preferred
- At least 1 year experience with Applied Behavior Analysis is preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in psychology or related field is preferred
- Should enjoy working on an interdisciplinary team and collaborating with others
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

She was interviewed recently by Behavioral Health Business reporter Jessica Longly about her background in behavioral health and her thoughts on leadership and the future of the field. Julia Reed, National Director of Clinical Training and Development at Acorn Health, has been named to the Future Leaders Class of 2026 by Behavioral Health Business. To become a Future Leader, an individual is nominated by their peers. The candidate must be a high-performing employee who is 40 years of age or younger, a passionate worker who knows how to put vision into action, and an advocate for patients and older adults, and the committed professionals who ensure their well-being. Reed sat down with Behavioral Health Business to share what drew her to the behavioral health industry, the biggest leadership lessons she has learned, her thoughts on the future of home health & home care, and much more. Reed: My background is in social work, and I've always been interested in supporting children and working to ensure pathways that provide access to opportunity for kids that span several spectrums including socio economic status, diagnoses, etc. I chose to specialize and dive into the behavioral health industry after walking through a diagnosis journey with a very dear friend and their child. I found motivation to participate in supportive structures for other children and their families. BHB: How would you describe your leadership style, and how has it changed over time? Reed: In leadership, I strive to lead from my personal core values, which have taken time and reflection to identify. Understanding what those values are has shaped my leadership style. Being as available and involved as my team wants and needs me to be, I try to operate with generous assumptions and lead with clarity through consistency and trust. BHB: What is the biggest leadership lesson you've learned while serving the behavioral health industry? Reed: One of the biggest leadership lessons I've learned in this industry is the value of collaboration and curiosity. I can lead and operate confidently from my skillset while also remaining open to new perspectives, ideas, and approaches that may create even greater positive impact. BHB: In one word, how would you describe the behavioral health industry and why? Reed: Complex. In my experience, this industry operates differently than other health sectors (e.g., duration in treatment, scheduling rhythms, etc.). I tend to be optimistic, and I believe the industry is full of clinicians who truly want to improve lives. However, many have limited exposure to the financial and operational realities required to sustain and grow a business. One of the ongoing challenges is balancing those priorities and ensuring that clinical excellence and operational sustainability work together, rather than compete with one another. BHB: What do you see as the biggest opportunities and challenges currently facing the behavioral health industry? Reed: I think it is currently a very pivotal time in the behavioral health industry. In the midst of the volume being turned up on some practices that may not be sound, Acorn Health, Inc. has an opportunity, and responsibility to its field and clients, to make more visible and transparent organizations who are taking the (sometimes) more challenging road of prioritizing the impact of high clinical quality and maximized outcomes over seeking only to maximize profits. Sustainability of the business is important, and it only gets you so far if the impact of the services is not meaningful and long-lasting. The organizations that will have the greatest impact on the future of behavioral health are those that can successfully balance both: strong, sustainable operations and an unwavering commitment to clinical excellence and outcomes. BHB: If you had a crystal ball, what do you think will impact the behavioral health industry over the next 5-10 years? Reed: I think there will be several factors that will impact the behavioral health industry over the next several years. The call and pull to shift toward a model of value-based care, which looks to reimburse providers based on outcomes rather than the number of hours of services provided, will likely bring some big changes to how organizations structure themselves. BHB: In your opinion, what qualities must all Future Leaders possess? Reed: I think humility, which includes awareness of both one's limitations and one's strengths, is a quality that a leader I would follow should possess. Having the confidence in your own skillset and authority, the understanding that there is always something to learn, and the flexibility to collaborate within and outside of your team goes a long way in leadership.

Reed was recognized for her exceptional clinical and leadership skills and commitment to advancing the field of applied behavioral analysis therapy (ABA). She joined Acorn Health, a national network of accredited ABA therapy providers, nine years ago. "I am sincerely touched and grateful to be nominated and recognized in this space," said Reed, whose professional experience spans direct care through senior leadership. Acorn Health expands autism diagnostic services in Florida and Tennessee to address growing demand. CORAL GABLES, Fla., May 8, 2026 - Acorn Health is expanding autism diagnostic services into Florida and Tennessee, aiming to improve access to early evaluation for children as demand for assessments continues to rise nationwide. Beginning later this month, diagnostic services will be available in Tampa, with Nashville services launching in July.
