Requirements
  • Pharmacy Technician Diploma from a Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs accredited college.
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists, or eligibility for registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • At least 1 year of related experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in parenteral sterile preparation, extemporaneous compounding, and hazardous drug preparation.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Consistent adherence to the organization's Code of Conduct and commitment to a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with health and safety policy and legislation.
  • Use of provided protective equipment and identification and reporting of hazards.
  • Ethical conduct and respect for the diversity of the patient, staff, and community population.
  • Strong work performance and attendance record.
Responsibilities
  • Perform technical and clerical functions in the assigned pharmacy area, such as inpatient pharmacy or oncology pharmacy.
  • Perform unit-dose or traditional dispensing and medication order entry.
  • Refill medication carts and replenish ward stock.
  • Manage inventory.
  • Prepare sterile products, including non-hazardous and hazardous drugs such as chemotherapy.
  • Perform manufacturing and pre-packaging duties.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement and workload measurement across rotations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a hospital inpatient pharmacy.
  • Previous experience in chemotherapy preparation.
  • Experience with pharmacy automation using the Omnicell Robotic System and Pyxis automated dispensing system.
  • Experience with the EPIC clinical information system.
  • Ability to speak another language.
