Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Certified as a nurse practitioner with current state licensure.
  • At least 1 year of previous professional nursing experience, including 1-3 years of experience practicing as a primary care nurse practitioner.
  • Prior experience working in an electronic medical records system.
  • Skilled in traditional nursing disciplines of patient assessment and management.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Basic Life Support certification are required as mandated by the state.
  • Knowledge of the rationale for appropriate patient care.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from various groups of people.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, teaching ability, and telephone skills.
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite, including Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides, and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for real-time collaboration.

  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of patient handling, clinic mobility, lifting, and prolonged standing or sitting.
Responsibilities
  • Practice medicine under physician supervision using sound medical judgment, ethical considerations, current technologies, and industry standards.
  • Provide care for older adult patients with acute and chronic illnesses under physician supervision.
  • Remain accountable for patient care and outcomes, seek specialist consultation when needed, and stay involved in detailed patient care.
  • Engage with hospitalists when a patient is hospitalized.
  • Meet clinical obligations involving accrediting agency compliance, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments compliance, drug-prescription compliance, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act compliance, state and federal regulations, and safety regulations.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat, manage, educate, promote health, coordinate care, and document care for patients with acute and complex chronic health needs using evidence-based medicine and practice guidelines.
  • Follow internal policies and procedures.
  • Complete operational tasks according to departmental guidelines to ensure appropriate clinical processing and documentation.
  • Maintain complete and detailed electronic medical records of patients’ healthcare plans and prognosis within 48 hours of each visit.
  • Provide patients with information to promote health, reduce risk factors, and prevent or manage disease or disability.
  • Analyze patients’ histories, symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses.
  • Interpret blood gases, radiology, electrocardiogram, and other diagnostic results to determine an appropriate course of action in collaboration with the supervising physician.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, and team members.
  • Document continuing education required for licensure and certification.
  • Ensure patients are seen by a physician at every other visit.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality according to policy, procedure, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act requirements.
  • Use the proper chain of command for patient complaints.
  • Perform additional assigned duties.
