Requirements
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience.
  • A current ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Level I Certification.
  • Portable Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification.
  • Understanding of the Proctor Compaction Test and USCS Soil Classification.
  • Trained and demonstrated competency in One-Point Proctor testing in the field, with validation.
  • Ability to pass relevant tests and/or achieve valid signatures.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate and confidential test records and prepare understandable reports.
  • Skilled in using computers and common software applications, with the ability to learn company-specific software and programs.
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle and comply with vehicle-operation and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to move, lift, or carry objects up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding and maneuver through construction sites and excavations.
  • Ability to communicate directly and by telephone in English and understand written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to work night shifts, weekends, early mornings, and changing schedules.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the branch office when needed.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
  • Ability to be insured under all applicable corporate insurance policies and requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Provide testing observation on assigned field projects according to applicable specifications for independent testing laboratories.
  • Prepare, collect, and test samples and conduct field observations of construction activities involving soil, concrete, grout, mortar, and asphalt.
  • Clearly identify, verbally communicate, and document test results and activities.
  • Review civil and structural plan specifications and identify sections applicable to the scope of work.
  • Perform tests, general construction inspections, and observations according to project requirements with some supervision.
  • Submit daily field reports documenting testing, inspections, and field observations.
  • Document and communicate non-conforming items to designated project supervision.
  • Clean, maintain, and calibrate assigned equipment according to applicable codes and standards.
  • Transport, operate, and care for a nuclear density gauge in accordance with the Radiation Safety Program Policy.
  • Travel daily to construction work sites and occasionally work on short-term or long-term out-of-town assignments.
