  • At least 10 years of experience managing multiple portfolios within the multifamily industry is required.
  • Strong knowledge of budget preparation and management is required.
  • The candidate must be able to independently assume responsibility for the overall needs of the Operations Department.
  • The candidate must have public and employee relations, problem-solving, analysis, and decision-making abilities.
  • The candidate must have oral and written communication skills and a participatory team-management leadership style.
  • The candidate must have time-management and organizational skills, along with strong analytical and reasoning abilities.
  • The candidate must have verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and other property-management software.
  • The candidate must be willing to travel as required.
Responsibilities
  • Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures outlined in the Operations Manual and aligned with Highmark's strategic goals.
  • Directly supervise and provide guidance to Regional Managers, Senior Regional Managers, Construction Management, and an Administrative Assistant to ensure that properties meet or exceed approved budgets.
  • Design, implement, and promote innovative programs to increase operational efficiencies and profitability.
  • Monitor and review financial reporting.
  • Work closely with Asset Management to provide due-diligence oversight, analysis, and transition assistance during the acquisition and disposition process.
  • Respond appropriately to escalated complaints from residents or prospective residents.
  • Stay up to date on changes in Fair Housing laws, rules, and regulations concerning apartment leasing and management.
  • Assist with recruiting quality candidates to join Highmark.
  • Participate in community activities, networking groups, and related professional organizations to remain aware of ongoing changes within the multifamily industry.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the Vice President of Operations.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, or Accounting is preferred.
  • Industry accreditations such as Certified Apartment Manager, Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor, and Certified Property Manager are preferred.
