Requirements

Grade 12 and/or proven years of laboratory experience.
Two years of experience with similar activities.
Must be physically able and willing to work with, pick up, and move samples as required.
Knowledge of health and safety.
Proficiency in Portuguese and English.

Responsibilities

Clean all equipment regularly and ensure the laboratory remains clean.
Prepare samples for testing as required.
Carry out work-related instructions from technicians.
Clean and maintain company equipment regularly, ensuring all test equipment is cleaned after each job.
Conduct quality and safety inspections as required.
Maintain the neatness of apparatus and the work environment, including cleaning the site or workshop after work and removing consumables used.
Maintain good housekeeping and keep the workplace clean and tidy.
Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
Perform other reasonable tasks assigned by the authorized site supervisor, laboratory manager, or regional manager.
Adopt safe behavior and exercise due regard for employee health and safety in accordance with SGS policies and procedures.
Comply with SGS's Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
Work in accordance with ISO 9001, 14001, 17025, and 45001 standards and requirements.
Report hazards, near misses, and incidents.
Wear relevant personal protective equipment and comply with health and safety regulations.
Participate in monthly safety talks with team members.
Dispose of SGS waste in an environmentally sustainable manner.
Optimize resources to protect the environment.

Sampling and preparation experience across laboratory divisions, including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregate.

Job Description

To clean all equipment on a regular basis. To prepare samples as and when required for testing. The assistant will ensure that the laboratory is clean at all times and will carry out all work-related instructions from the technicians.

Sampling and preparation experience advantageous in all laboratory divisions including soils. asphalt, seals, concrete / aggregate.
Must be physically willing and able to work with, pick up and move samples as and when required

Additional Information

RESPONSABILITIES

A General Labour is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the company equipment on a regularly basis and that all test equipment is cleaned after completion of any job.
Conduct quality and safety inspections as required.
Is responsible for the neatness of apparatus and environment including cleaning up the site or workshop where the job was carried out and will make sure its free off all consumables used to perform the job (masking tape, tins).
Shall maintain good housekeeping and to keep workplace clean and tidy.
Is responsible to adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager and regional manager.
Conduct quality and safety inspections as required.
