About the Job

Requirements

  • Data analysis and basic statistical analysis skills.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and derive engineering insights.
  • Clear written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Strong curiosity and willingness to learn semiconductor manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Build a fundamental understanding of the Tetraethyl Orthosilicate Chemical Vapor Deposition process flow and chamber condition effects.
  • Apply data analysis techniques to characterize crater defect signatures and trends.
  • Develop hypothesis-driven insights linking process conditions to defect formation.
  • Evaluate defect reduction opportunities while maintaining critical film performance requirements.
  • Study the process flow, equipment configuration, and chamber condition history.
  • Analyze inline defect inspection data and yield data to characterize crater defect patterns.
  • Perform structured data analysis to identify key process and equipment variables correlated with defects.
  • Conduct limited, well-defined experiments (Design of Experiments or split runs) under Process Engineering Excellence guidance.
  • Assess defect improvement results against key film performance metrics, including thickness, uniformity, and electrical properties.
  • Prepare a defect characterization summary with data-driven insights on crater defect mechanisms.
  • Prepare an analysis package correlating process parameters and chamber conditions to defect behavior.
  • Document experimental results demonstrating defect reduction opportunities and assess their impact on critical film metrics.
  • Present findings and recommendations in a final technical presentation and written summary.

About the Company

Micron Technology

Makes memory and storage chips for AI and PCs

Micron Technology designs and manufactures memory and storage chips, mainly DRAM and NAND flash, used in data centers, PCs, phones, cars and industrial equipment. It is one of only three companies that make HBM, the stacked high-bandwidth memory placed beside processors in AI servers, and it is the largest memory chipmaker based in the United States. Unlike chip designers that outsource production, Micron runs its own fabs and assembly sites in the United States and across Asia. It earns money by selling chips, memory modules and solid-state drives to cloud providers, device makers and distributors. Micron was founded in 1978 and is headquartered in Boise, Idaho.
