Requirements
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Candidates must be available between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., including nights, holidays, and weekends, and must work a flexible schedule.
  • Candidates must be able to lift deli products weighing up to 50 pounds and stand and walk during a 4-8 hour shift.
  • Candidates must demonstrate basic math skills, including translating pounds and ounces into decimals.
  • Candidates must use hair restraints, clean uniforms, name tags, cut gloves, production gloves, and slip-resistant shoes as required.
  • Candidates must safely use knives, slicers, box cutters, powered equipment, and other sharp or kitchen equipment after training.
  • Candidates must be able to determine spoiled or damaged product and follow food safety, sanitation, health, and weights and measures regulations.
  • Food preparation experience is a plus.
  • Candidates must maintain reliable attendance and work effectively with others.
  • Internal Schnucks store or facility teammates should have at least six months of employment; Store Support Center teammates should have at least one year of employment.
  • Internal candidates must be in good standing and obtain manager approval based on performance if invited to interview.
Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly and courteous service to customers in person and by phone.
  • Maintain a positive work environment and cleanliness of the work area, equipment, deli cases, and backroom.
  • Follow personal hygiene requirements, time and temperature controls, food handling practices, sanitation principles, and safe lifting procedures.
  • Wear company-approved slip-resistant shoes and provided personal protective equipment when required.
  • Slice and weigh lunch meats and cheeses and obtain customer approval of slice thickness before completing orders.
  • Use product knowledge, suggestive selling, and product sampling to answer customer questions and support product-related decisions.
  • Fill, rotate, and date products for the display case.
  • Operate meat and cheese slicers, scales, and wrapping equipment.
  • Use fryers, rotisserie ovens, steamers, and other kitchen equipment, including frying chicken.
  • Prepare sandwiches, party trays, salads, and special orders according to company recipes.
  • Pull products from cases for storage at closing, including filling, rotating, and wrapping products.
  • Assist with product production, packaging, presentation, freshness, rotation, and restocking.
  • Keep the customer as the first priority while multitasking.
  • Offer product samples to help customers discover new products.
  • Observe temperatures in coolers and cases and report failures to management.
  • Answer phones and take special orders courteously.
  • Complete training before the first scheduled workday in the store.
