About the job

Requirements
  • Hands-on experience triaging and remediating vulnerabilities in web applications and their dependencies, using GitHub Dependabot and GitHub Advanced Security or comparable software composition analysis and static analysis tools.
  • Ability to read and modify code in at least one common web language, such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, or Go.
  • Understanding of package managers, lockfiles, semantic versioning, and transitive dependencies; ability to open pull requests, run tests, and resolve merge conflicts.
  • Ability to use CVSS base scores, EPSS exploit probability, CISA KEV, and reachability analysis to prioritize remediation and explain rankings to founders or engineering leads.
  • Ability to validate scanner output, eliminate false positives, and assess common web vulnerability classes including injection, cross-site scripting, server-side request forgery, and broken access control.
  • Experience working with containers, CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, and Terraform, including identifying and fixing vulnerabilities and misconfigurations.
  • Ability to match continuous monitoring and remediation records to audit evidence requirements for SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and CMMC.
  • Ability to write technical guidance, structure project milestones and progress tracking, and manage deliverables across multiple active client accounts.
  • Ability to build trust with US-based technology founders, engineering leaders, and executives and communicate technical risk in business terms.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills for engaging with candidates, hiring managers, and business leaders across global teams.
  • Reliable high-speed internet and a professional home office environment suitable for confidential conversations and uninterrupted collaboration.
  • Commitment to a standard 8:00 AM–5:00 PM US Eastern Time schedule, with occasional flexibility to adjust working hours for business priorities and global collaboration.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally for occasional on-site meetings, team gatherings, or business activities.
  • Practical experience identifying, assessing, and validating vulnerabilities in web applications and source code is mandatory; infrastructure vulnerability scanning experience alone is insufficient.
Responsibilities
  • Triage Dependabot alerts, code-scanning results, and secret-scanning alerts across client repositories; determine whether vulnerable packages or code paths are reachable and exploitable, document rationale for dismissing false positives, and rank findings using CVSS, EPSS, CISA KEV status, and client asset and data context.
  • Review, test, and merge Dependabot pull requests and create pull requests for upgrades Dependabot cannot handle, including transitive dependencies, major-version upgrades, and breaking changes.
  • Apply straightforward code and configuration fixes directly and provide engineers with written guidance for fixes requiring design changes.
  • Work with client engineers through code-review and release processes to meet a sub-30-day time-to-remediate target.
  • Enable and tune Dependabot, code scanning, and secret scanning across client GitHub organizations, including repository coverage, alert rules, update grouping, and ignore rules.
  • Maintain scanning of container images, CI/CD pipelines, and Terraform using tools such as Wiz, and connect findings to Vanta so coverage gaps are visible.
  • Fix vulnerabilities in base images, GitHub Actions workflows and other CI/CD configuration, and Terraform-defined infrastructure by changing code rather than using the console.
  • Deploy patches where required to systems hosted in AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Document, verify, and track client requests for temporary vulnerability exceptions and long-term risk acceptances, including dismissed alerts and accepted dependency risks.
  • Map remediation data, including alert history, pull-request records, and time-to-remediate metrics, to control evidence required for SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, CMMC, and NIST audits.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted security advisor for an assigned portfolio of fast-growth startups.
  • Deliver regular project milestones, handle high-priority technical escalations, and produce status reports and executive summaries that communicate technical risk as business value.
Desired Qualifications
  • A track record managing dependency upgrades, change management, and remediation sequencing alongside distributed engineering, DevOps, and IT teams, ideally in a managed service provider or consulting environment.
  • Active credentials such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, GIAC GEVA, GIAC GWEB, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, or Microsoft SC-200.
  • Direct experience mapping, configuring, and defending workloads on AWS, GCP, and Azure.
  • Working knowledge of the CVE lifecycle, the National Vulnerability Database, the GitHub Advisory Database, OSV, and CISA KEV, and how advisories become fixes in package ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with Tenable/Nessus, Qualys, or Rapid7 InsightVM, which some clients use alongside code and cloud scanning.

BioMate partners with Vanta and Workstreet on SOC 2 & HIPAA compliance.

BioMate partners with Vanta and Workstreet on SOC 2 & HIPAA compliance. BioMate is strengthening its security and compliance posture through partnerships with Vanta and Workstreet - building a continuous, automated program for SOC 2 and HIPAA that gives its biopharma and clinical partners the assurance they require before putting sensitive data and regulated workflows on any platform. Its Partners Two organizations, one compliance foundation. Vanta is the leading automated security and compliance platform. It continuously monitors a company's security posture, collects audit evidence in real time, and provides a clear, auditable path to SOC 2 and HIPAA certification. Rather than treating compliance as a one-time audit event, Vanta makes it an always-on, automated capability - reducing manual burden on engineering and operations teams while giving customers and partners continuous visibility into security controls. Workstreet Workstreet is Vanta's largest and most credentialed services partner, home to more Vanta-certified professionals than any other firm. Workstreet advises organizations from initial Vanta implementation through ongoing trust-program management, ensuring teams extract full value from the platform and sustain their SOC 2 and HIPAA posture as they scale. Why It Matters Compliance as a foundation, not an afterthought. BioMate is built for the most sensitive data in science: patient cohort records, proprietary compound libraries, preclinical study results, and unpublished target hypotheses. Its biopharma and clinical partners don't just want powerful AI - they need to know it is secure, auditable, and HIPAA-compliant before the first byte of their data enters the platform. The Vanta partnership delivers continuous, automated evidence collection across its infrastructure - every security control monitored in real time, every audit artefact collected automatically. Workstreet's expertise ensures that implementation is right-sized for where BioMate is today and structured to sustain certification as BioMate grow. What this means for BioMate users Every workflow you run on BioMate already returns cited, QC-audited results. Now the platform layer underneath carries the same standard of rigor: SOC 2 and HIPAA controls, continuously monitored, independently verified - so your compliance team has the documentation they need without asking your science team to stop and produce it. Closing the loop on responsible AI for drug discovery. BioMate's QC-gated workflows are designed from the ground up for audit readiness - every analytical step logged, every finding cited, every parameter traceable to its source. This compliance infrastructure closes the loop at the platform level, ensuring that the system running your research meets the same standards you apply to the research itself. BioMate is grateful to Vanta and Workstreet for the partnership, and BioMate look forward to sharing more milestones as BioMate progress toward certification.
