  • Ability to provide customer-facing updates and write engineering-facing escalation reports based on the same incident.
  • Ability to advocate for customer interests while maintaining factual accuracy with engineering.
  • 5–7 years of experience in network/security operations, customer support engineering, or professional services.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP (IPv4/IPv6), DNS, routing, NAT, IPsec tunnels, and TLS fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with AWS basics, including VPC, subnets, security groups, CloudWatch, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Familiarity with packet capture using Wireshark or tcpdump and structured troubleshooting.
  • Experience with cloud container technologies such as Kubernetes, including deployments, services, scaling, and basic kubectl troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of one or more of VPN, zero trust, cloud web inspection, CASB, DLP, and firewall policy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical incident discussions for Japanese enterprise accounts and support timely resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide critical support and help ensure high availability for enterprise customers.
  • Own L2/L3 troubleshooting across VPN, zero trust access, cloud web inspection, CASB, DLP, firewall policy, and AWS/Kubernetes connectivity.
  • Collect and analyze logs, packet captures, and metrics; prepare escalation packages for engineering and customer-ready summaries from the same facts.
  • Capture packets and perform basic packet analysis to narrow IPsec tunnel, IPv4/IPv6, DNS, routing, TLS, and policy-related issues before senior escalation.
  • Run scripted health checks using Bash or Python for tunnel/IPsec status, DNS paths, and IP pool utilization.
  • Capture customer configurations and run daily regression checks to identify issues before they affect customer environments.
  • Assist with upgrades and migrations, including pre-checks, smoke tests, rollback planning, and bilingual customer communication.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate log review and validate results before sharing them with customers or engineering.
  • Document runbooks, known issues, and customer-specific architecture notes.
  • Serve as the day-to-day two-way liaison for Japanese enterprise accounts, relaying engineering status, workarounds, and fix guidance to customers in Japanese and communicating customer symptoms, environment details, business impact, and urgency to engineering in English.
  • Keep customers and engineering synchronized during open escalations and ensure customer impact, urgency, and operational needs are clearly represented.

Desired Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Cisco on-premises or cloud security/networking products.
  • Prior TAC, PS, or customer engineering experience at a SASE or enterprise security vendor.
  • Exposure to observability tools such as Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, or similar.

About the Company

Cisco

Makes networking gear and security software

Cisco makes the switches and routers that connect offices, data centers, and cloud services, and it also sells cybersecurity tools and Webex video meetings to businesses and governments. It was one of the first companies to sell routers that let different kinds of computer networks exchange data, and in 2000 it briefly became the world's most valuable company. Customers run its network gear, from Wi-Fi access points to AI data center systems, with Cisco software that sets up and secures the network, while its Splunk unit searches computer logs to catch outages and attacks. Cisco earns money from hardware sales, software subscriptions, and support contracts. It was founded in 1984 and is based in San Jose, California.
