Airwallex becomes Official AI Finance Partner of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team.

Airwallex becomes Official AI Finance Partner of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team. Airwallex, a leading global financial platform for modern businesses, has become an Official AI Finance Partner of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team. Starting in January 2027, the partners will look to build faster, more efficient technology on and off the track, enabling the collection of payments from customers using a range of global and local payment methods. McLaren Racing and Airwallex's partnership has now been extended, after first launching together as technology partners in 2024. As part of its partnership, its brand presence will expand to feature Airwallex on the sleeve of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team kit, increasing the brand's visibility across the race track throughout the season. Airwallex branding will remain on both Formula 1 cars in the Halo Rear Left position and on the drivers' overalls. Stream Motorsports The change comes after Airwallex raised $320 million in Series H funding in June at an $11 billion valuation to accelerate the development of its next generation of AI-native financial software. This includes T:0, an AI-native platform designed to run a business's finance function end to end, and Airi, an agentic consumer wallet being developed to support delegated payments, spending controls and multi-currency balances. "Partnering closely with Airwallex demonstrates our long-term commitment to investing in faster, more efficient technology. Airwallex is our first Official AI Finance Partner and we're confident in their ability to help us run our financial operations faster and more efficiently," said Laura Bowden, Chief Financial Officer at McLaren Racing. "Formula 1 is built on the pursuit of marginal gains, and that mindset has shaped our partnership with McLaren Racing. Over the past three seasons, we've shown how smarter financial infrastructure and AI-native technology can help global organisations move faster and operate with greater control across borders," said Pranav Sood, Chief Financial Officer at Airwallex. "As we become an Official AI Finance Partner of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team from 2027, we're proud to support their business growth and deepen our relationship. This closely aligns with our broader strategy to help businesses move faster and more profitably than their competitors, and as we enter the Agentic Banking era, we're focused on deploying intelligent AI capabilities across our unified stack with Agentic Business Accounts at the center." Track Investments Airwallex will continue to provide technology that supports McLaren's digital partner merchandise platform, enabling the collection of payments from customers using a range of global and local payment methods. Discover more Track Investments Compare Cards This news follows three successful Formula 1 seasons of the partnership, through which Airwallex has supported McLaren's global financial operations as it secured its 10th Constructors' World Championship and as Lando Norris won the Drivers' Championship in 2025. Last season also represented the sport's highest TV viewing figures in five years, attracting a total cumulative audience of 1.83 billion, according to Nielsen - up almost 7% on 2024. Airwallex's global sports partnership presence continues to go from strength to strength. In July 2025, Airwallex became the Official Finance Software Partner of Arsenal Football Club, supporting the club's global financial operations. This was followed by partnerships with the San Francisco Giants as Official Jersey Patch Partner and New Zealand's Super Rugby team, the Blues, as Official Business Finance Partner, in February 2026. Airwallex also expanded its Australian sporting footprint through a partnership with Essendon Football Club as Co-Major Partner and Official Financial Software Partner. ANZ drops KPMG as external auditor.

ANZ drops KPMG as external auditor. Airwallex strengthens London presence as geopolitical tensions rise. Airwallex has established a global holding company in the United Kingdom, just as criticism in the US over its Chinese links intensifies. Get Capital gains in your inbox. Inside banking, fintech and regulation. Sent Mondays. Australian-founded fintech Airwallex has established a new global holding company in London as the business shifts its focus to European expansion as it faces increasing political pressure in the US due to rising geopolitical tension between existing major markets in the US and China. Earlier this week, Airwallex updated the name of its Airwallex Group UK company to Airwallex Global, a global financial holdings company, with president and co-founder Lucy Liu exiting as a director as of October 3. Co-founder and CTO Jacob Dai was registered as a director in late September. The company also incorporated a new entity, Airwallex Treasury UK, to support its UK treasury offering in June. The restructuring follows the business's increasing focus on the United Kingdom as a gateway to Europe, which it sees as a key market for its ongoing growth as it leans into the opportunities of being an early mover in agentic business accounts. While Airwallex is yet to label its UK operations as its main headquarters for its next stage of growth, both its co-founder and CEO Jack Zhang, and Chief Financial Officer Pranav Sood are based out of London. The company is currently hiring for more than 50 roles in London, including critical roles such as a Head of Onboarding and FinCrime, Head of Risk Operations and a range of senior strategy roles. The company officially has two headquarters, in Singapore and San Francisco, US. Launched in Melbourne in 2015, the company has long had a Cayman Island-parented structure. An Airwallex spokesperson told Capital Brief the company saw London as an important global financial centre and a strong base for its continued growth.

Airwallex reworks Business Accounts for Agentic finance.

Airwallex reworks Business Accounts for Agentic finance. Oct 1, 2026 at 12:01 pm Managing money across several companies, currencies and bank accounts can become a full-time job if goes unautomated. Airwallex is now trying to make that process easier with AI agents. Airwallex, the global payments and financial platform for businesses, introduced its revamped Agentic Business Accounts on 30 September. The update brings multiple entities, accounts, balances and financial activity into a single view. It is designed to give AI agents the context they need to help manage business finances. Airwallex says the new setup is intended for companies operating across multiple markets. It helps move money, manage foreign exchange and organise liquidity without jumping between separate accounts. What are Airwallex Agentic Business Accounts? At its core, the product is an expanded version of Airwallex's existing Business Accounts rather than a separate product. Companies can bring their registered entities and accounts into one centralised view. From the same interface, finance teams manage balances, move money, manage payees and convert currencies. Businesses with multiple legal entities can also use Airwallex's Global Entity Management tools to oversee finances centrally while retaining separate entity-level structures. The updated setup also allows companies to create dedicated accounts for different purposes. For example, a business could separate day-to-day operating cash from funds intended to earn yield or money reserved for other expenses. Funds can then be moved between internal accounts or transferred externally. The most significant change, however, comes from the connection with AI agents. Now businesses that opt for Airwallex business accounts can use their preferred AI agent to automate repetitive financial tasks. The agents can manage finances within permissions, rules and approval processes set by the company. Potential use cases include anticipating funding requirements, rebalancing liquidity and managing foreign exchange exposure. This update builds on Airwallex AgentOS toolkit, introduced in June. AgentOS allows AI agents to interact with Airwallex accounts through an MCP server, CLI and pre-built Skills. Plugins are available for Claude Code, Claude Cowork and Cursor, while businesses can also connect the tools directly to other agent environments. For finance teams, that means an agent could potentially query balances across different account types, analyse cash flow, prepare FX options, turn contract information into billing terms or provision company cards. Airwallex also conveniently supports sandbox testing before businesses allow agents to operate on live accounts. Who is it for? The product is primarily aimed at businesses with more complex financial operations, particularly those managing several entities, currencies, accounts and users. That broad category could include companies expanding internationally, businesses with distributed operations and finance teams responsible for managing liquidity across markets. There is also a practical advantage for companies already using Airwallex. Rather than asking an AI agent to coordinate with several unrelated banks, the agent can work with a consolidated financial environment where accounts, balances and transactions are connected. Airwallex does not provide a detailed geographic rollout specifically for the new Agentic Business Accounts. Its existing Business Accounts infrastructure supports local payouts in more than 120 countries, while the broader platform supports businesses in more than 200 countries. The exact availability of individual account, currency and financial features can vary by market and regulatory requirements. The company has not announced a detailed future product roadmap for Agentic Business Accounts as well. Instead, the update points to a broader direction in which AgentOS and connected AI agents become a layer for operating Airwallex's financial infrastructure. A growing market for agentic finance. Airwallex is entering a market that is rapidly moving from experiments toward real-world financial transactions. Visa's 2026 Global eCommerce Payments and Fraud Report found that 63% of merchants were actively exploring or implementing solutions for agentic AI payments, and 19% already had a plan and solutions in place to accept them. McKinsey estimates that agentic AI could put around $75 billion in global payments revenue at risk by 2030 under its baseline scenario, though it also might be potentially creating up to $110 billion in annual operational productivity opportunities for payment providers. Airwallex agentic finance journey. The Agentic Business Accounts update is the latest step in a series of AI-focused initiatives from Airwallex. In June, PaySpace Magazine reported on Kai, the company's in-app AI assistant. Airwallex said Kai was resolving 88% of user conversations without escalation to a human. This AI tool had expanded beyond basic support into onboarding, transfer initiation, spend approval workflows and card management. At the same time, PaySpace Magazine found reports from some users of duplicate tickets and slow email follow-up when cases required human support. A week later, Airwallex launched Airi, its consumer wallet. Airi stores customers' payment details and enables one-click checkout. At launch, it was not agentic, but Airwallex said it planned to evolve the wallet so customers could authorise AI agents to make purchases on their behalf without exposing sensitive payment information. That roadmap is confirmed on Airwallex's product pages, where Airi for Agents is listed as "coming soon." Solidgate and Airwallex to give merchants local acquiring as they expand into new markets globally.

Solidgate and Airwallex to give merchants local acquiring as they expand into new markets globally. Solidgate and Airwallex partner to help merchants lower cross-border fees and improve international conversion rates through local payment acquiring. Curated by Financing Your Way from original reporting by Finextra - Lending. Summary is AI-assisted and editorially reviewed - see its editorial standards. This partnership between Solidgate and Airwallex makes it significantly easier for retailers to sell to customers in international markets without the high costs of cross-border transactions. For your business, this means you can offer local payment methods and process transactions through local banking networks in Europe, the UK, and beyond. By using 'local acquiring,' you avoid the high fees and low conversion rates often associated with international credit card processing. The technical integration allows merchants to bypass the complexity of setting up separate bank accounts in every country where they want to sell. Instead, you can provide a seamless checkout experience that feels local to the customer, which is proven to reduce cart abandonment. As consumer financing and alternative payment methods become more localized, having an infrastructure that supports these diverse payment types is critical for any merchant looking to scale outside of their home country. This update simplifies the back-end plumbing of global commerce so you can focus on inventory and marketing. Who else is covering this
