Requirements
  • The ability to communicate orally and in writing with a wide array of people, including staff members with differing skills and abilities.
  • The ability to interact courteously with customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and solve customer complaints and requests.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising a diverse staff, including student employees, full-time and part-time employees, and temporary staff.
  • The ability to bend, stoop, and twist, and safely lift up to 50 pounds regularly when storing, stocking, and gathering prepared products or inventory items.
  • Current ServSafe certification or the ability to complete the certification within three months of hire.
  • The ability and willingness to work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
  • Successful applicants must pass mandatory University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and department-specific trainings.
  • Employment requires a criminal background check.
  • Employment requires authorization to work within the United States as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise all aspects of customer service in the front of the house of University Dining operations.
  • Address and resolve customer issues.
  • Supervise cashier operations.
  • Set up and maintain dining rooms and dining room supplies and products.
  • Communicate consistently with full-time staff, student leadership, student staff, and other part-time specialty staff to support customer service, training, safety and sanitation compliance, presentation, and dining-facility maintenance.
  • Guide and train staff and student workers.
  • Provide customer service, answer questions, and provide information to customers, donors, and stakeholders based on established materials or standards.
  • Organize, distribute, and maintain work-unit procedures, policies, and updates to ensure the accuracy and relevance of delivered information.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitor and maintain work areas and supplies to meet customer and operational needs.
  • Process customer transactions and take payments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience within a University Dining facility with large numbers of student employees.
  • Knowledge of methods and the ability to motivate employees.
  • Basic knowledge of technology used in a University Dining location.
  • Knowledge of basic safety and sanitation principles.
