About the job

Requirements
  • At least 7 years in platform engineering, site reliability engineering or infrastructure, with production systems the candidate was responsible for.
  • Experience deploying, scaling, hardening and debugging production Kubernetes under real load.
  • Strong cloud experience; Google Cloud Platform is preferred, including networking, identity and access management, cost and capacity planning, and multi-region architecture.
  • Experience with production Docker and container orchestration, plus virtualization such as VMware, KVM, Hyper-V or similar.
  • Real API design experience, including designing, versioning and running APIs used by other engineers in production.
  • Experience with Terraform, plus continuous integration/continuous delivery and GitOps tools such as ArgoCD and GitHub Actions.
  • Networking knowledge including IP routing, virtual private clouds, DNS and load balancing.
  • Use of AI tools in work, such as writing code, automating operations or investigating outages.
  • Ability to take responsibility for outcomes, advocate for sound designs and apply lessons learned to improve the team.
Responsibilities
  • Own the Kubernetes platform end to end by designing, running and scaling multi-region clusters and the underlying cloud infrastructure, mostly on Google Cloud Platform, targeting 99.99% availability and low latency.
  • Run infrastructure across virtual machines in company data centers, cloud containers and orchestration, and the systems connecting them.
  • Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform, continuous integration/continuous delivery and GitOps so changes are reviewed, tested and rolled back like code.
  • Build and run APIs and internal tools used by the rest of the team to support software delivery.
  • Own platform monitoring and alerting with Grafana, Prometheus and OpenTelemetry; identify degradation, lead blameless post-mortems and ensure fixes are implemented.
  • Plan capacity and cost as traffic grows, and make decisions about identity and access management, cloud networking and multi-region design.
  • Work with the systems engineer and network and software teams, and improve how the infrastructure team works.
Desired Qualifications
  • Google Cloud Platform experience is preferred.

About the company

Share builds wireless mesh networks to extend internet access in underserved regions, letting retail investors fund and own the infrastructure. The networks use linked radio nodes that smartly route data in short hops, forming a self-healing system that tackles last-mile connectivity. Assets are tokenized and traded on a Web3 platform, so investors earn from real-world connectivity while contributors receive crypto incentives. By uniting fragmented infrastructure into a community-owned network in the global south, Share aims to turn connectivity into an investable asset class that expands affordable internet and financial inclusion.

  • Nairobi expansion now spans 12 infrastructure providers and six subsea cable routes.
  • Open-access pricing and stablecoin settlement cut ISP upfront costs and speed time-to-market.

What critics are saying

  • Safaricom, Jamii, Zuku, and Starlink already dominate Kenya’s broadband market.
  • Share depends on complex partner integrations across 16 infrastructure providers and 45 data centers.
  • If Kenya expansion stalls, Share becomes a narrow regional backbone startup, not a category winner.

What makes Share unique

  • Greenfield led Share’s seed round on April 13, 2026.
  • Share unifies Kenyan ISPs through a carrier-grade backbone and unified billing stack.
  • Mombasa deployment spans 40 kilometers of fiber and 1,000 kilometers of partner fiber.
