Job Description
As a New Product Development Engineering Co-op, you will work alongside our Product Engineers at the Therma-Tru Innovation Center to support the New Product Development process, taking products from ideation to commercialization. In this position, you will support the development of products and the team through the processes of material selection, analysis, and full design implementation. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and apply problem solving, work on cross-functional teams and learn about the product engineering process.
GPD&I ROTATIONAL PROGRAM:
This is an opportunity to join our newly developed Global Product Development Team’s Rotational Co-Op Program. In this program you will be given the chance to work on specially selected projects to gain relevant experience to your field. Based on performance, you may be selected to return for following semesters up to four in total; following a 1 on 1 off schedule, that could include up to 4 total semesters with the GPD Team.
Position location/hybrid/remote –This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule based in Maumee, OH.
RESPONSIBLIITIES:
What you will be doing
- Assist in the day-to-day support of engineering operations for assigned department
- Learn and understand the engineering operations in assigned department
- Assist in troubleshooting quality issues and implementing corrective actions
- Develop and implement solutions for quality issues for consumers.
- Interface with plant Engineering, Production, Quality and Planning teams, as well as outside technical support vendors
- Identify improvement opportunities, develop solutions and review with Senior Engineering Lead
- Conduct Design of Experiments; create reports from learnings and present data to stakeholders
- Run laboratory tests on product returns and design test fixtures as needed.
- Assist with product reworks and organize plant inspections.
- Compile, prepare and present data for project updates and technical presentations to plant leadership and/or management
- Assist in 50 first programs for new product launches.
Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focusing on mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited university
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD (Solidworks or similar)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prefer the student can work a minimum of 2 semesters/40 hours per week. Moen will accommodate up to 4 semesters
- Knowledge of mechanical design concepts for plastic, metal, and composite materials
- Exposure to DOE’s, Tolerance Stack-ups
- Self-motivated problem solver who enjoys working in a “hands-on” environment
- Self-directed and motivated for completion of projects
- Be able to schedule and complete projects from start to finish
