Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
  • 2-3+ Years hands-on experience in Manufacturing Environment
  • Computer skills, including SolidWorks and Microsoft Office software
  • Working experience with ERP systems (Oracle and/or SAP experience preferred) and Engineering Change Orders
  • Technical writing skills necessary to create standard work instructions for non-technical personnel
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement efforts inclusive of Lean Mfg. principles, Kaizen events, 6S, and cost reduction preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Owning and leading the mechanical manufacturing engineering function by being the first point of contact for production when issues arise.
  • Use critical thinking and problem-solving strategies to address, analyze, and resolve any failures or problems encountered on the production floor.
  • Provide daily technical support to attack and resolve problems with processes, equipment, or material in a timely manner
  • Leading others and/or create clear, concise, detailed, and accurate standard manufacturing processes in collaboration with the production floor.
  • Ensuring work is completed by others using good management methods and techniques.
  • Update and improve assembly processes as required collaborating with production using Engineering Change process to implement.
  • Own and drive the specifying, designing, documenting, building, and implementing assembly fixtures for the production floor.
  • Research, specify, procure, and implement equipment and tools for the production floor.
  • Implementation and maintenance of equipment calibration such as torque control drivers.
  • Support Quality efforts in production by finding the root cause of failures and implementing corrective actions so they don’t occur again.
  • Taking accountability to eliminate defects of any kind that occur in production.
  • Contribute to new product design reviews with Design for Manufacturability input.
  • Develop manufacturing plan for new product introductions (capacity, floor layout, necessary tools/fixtures, costs)
  • Specify manufacturing equipment, tools, and fixtures required for new product.
  • Conduct pre-pilot and pilot run activities, ensuring that everything works for production and results in quality product.
  • Coordinating the implementation of CI and Lean initiatives and plans consistent with and in support of the strategic plan and business operating plan.
  • Be the subject matter expert for lean and continuous improvement and lean topics.
  • Mine and analyze data to support the kaizen project selection process.
  • Provide CI resources and participate in CI events as advisor.
  • Accountable to follow-up and audit project progress to ensure results are achieved and sustained.
  • Resolve implementation issues, creating and managing implementation communication processes, and ensuring consistency of implemented processes and programs throughout manufacturing operations.
  • Generate correspondence, host conference calls, meetings and events to launch projects, and support initiatives.
  • Monthly engage and support leaders to guide and/or manage improvement efforts
  • Lead, assistant and develop deliverables such as standard work to sustain improvement efforts.
  • Using various project management tools and systems, prepare detailed plans, drive project performance and assure timely completion of goals and objectives.
  • Utilize Oracle ERP for Item Number, Bill of Material, and Labor time creation and changes, and engineering changes.
  • Maintain accurate routing steps and labor hours in Oracle and make changes as required.
  • Maintenance and updates of Oracle Product Configurator due to product updates and engineering changes.
  • Serve as backup to PDM for all PDM functions when not available.
