Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in data, including at least 4 years in banking, and a hands-on data engineering background.
- Experience designing data platforms inside tier-1 or large regional banks.
- Knowledge of banking data models such as Teradata FSLDM or equivalent across customer, account, payments, and AML/CFT subject areas.
- Experience building financial crime or regulatory data marts to BCBS 239 standards for lineage, reconciliation, and audit.
- Knowledge of enterprise data warehouse, data lake, and Lakehouse architecture, as well as Data Mesh and Data Fabric concepts.
- Experience with dimensional, 3NF, and Data Vault data modelling; semantic layers; and data products.
- Experience designing historical data, including snapshots, SCD Type 2, bi-temporal models, and large multi-grain backfills.
- Experience with data-as-a-service patterns across batch and API delivery, including lineage, observability, and SLA monitoring.
- Knowledge of metadata, business glossary, lineage, and data quality frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT development, CDC, historical data processing, metadata-driven automation frameworks, and performance optimisation.
- Experience with Teradata and Hadoop/Cloudera at scale, including warehouses of 100 TB+ and tables of billions of rows.
- Experience with Spark, Python, R, SQL, Hive, Impala, HBase, Pig, Hue, Apache Iceberg, and Trino.
- Experience with Kafka, Spark Streaming, Informatica (including IDL), and Talend for streaming and integration.
- Experience with advanced SQL, NoSQL, Denodo, and Snowflake for databases and data federation.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Airflow, GitOps, and CI/CD tools.
- Ability to run design authority forums and review engineers’ designs and code.
- Ability to write design specifications that pass architecture, audit, and regulatory review.
