Complete all clerical duties such as address changes, documenting company survey results, preparing packets, and other general clerical duties as assigned.
Maintain office supply inventory and order supplies as needed and/or requested.
Attend to the safety of employees and guests to the extent that does not endanger self or others.
Provide front line communication and relay information in urgent or emergency situations.

Work Experience: One year of multiline phone experience and/or reception duties preferred.

BEND, Ore. - Oregon-based PacificSource Health Plans is laying off 130 employees amid what company officials describe as an unsustainable health care market. A company spokesperson said structural changes prompted the job cuts. The job cuts will be across all three states where it operates, but did the spokesperson did not say whether the company's Central Oregon location, specifically, is affected. PacificSource recently withdrew from the Montana insurance market and has also exited the individual health insurance market. The company cited rising costs as a key driver of the decision, calling current market conditions unsustainable. In May, Providence Health announced it is exiting the insurance business, leaving more than 400,000 Oregonians to find new coverage.

Kristine de Leon, oregonlive.com Oregonian PacificSource plans to lay off 97 employees in Oregon this summer as the Springfield-based health insurer scales back its operations amid mounting financial pressures. In a Friday notice to state labor officials, PacificSource said it will eliminate positions in Portland, Salem, Bend and at its Springfield headquarters by July 31. The layoffs follow the insurer's recent decision to leave the Affordable Care Act marketplace in Oregon, Idaho and Montana after 2026 and exit Montana's insurance market entirely. PacificSource officials said they are reducing staff to match a smaller operation. "As a not-for-profit organization, PacificSource is making difficult decisions to ensure we can continue fulfilling our mission and serving members for the long term amid growing pressures across the healthcare industry," Lauren Thompson, a spokesperson for the organization, said in a statement. According to Thompson, roughly 60,000 members enrolled in affected plans will need to find new coverage for next year. "These are not decisions made lightly," she said. "We know they will affect people's coverage and livelihoods, and we recognize the real impact on the individuals and communities we serve." PacificSource, a not-for-profit insurer partly owned by Legacy Health, covers about 500,000 members through Affordable Care Act marketplace plans, Medicare, Medicaid and employer-sponsored insurance in Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Washington. The health plan has spent the past year pulling back from several lines of business. Last fall, the insurer announced it would stop serving Lane County as a coordinated care organization - the local networks that manage Medicaid coverage for Oregon Health Plan members. That move forced about 96,000 people to switch to Trillium Community Health Plan, another coordinated care organization in the region. At the same time, PacificSource has faced increasing financial strain. Ratings agencies downgraded the insurer's financial strength ratings last year, citing weaker capitalization and profitability challenges. The latest cuts come as Oregon's Affordable Care Act marketplace continues to shrink. About 21,000 fewer people enrolled in private marketplace plans during the 2026 open enrollment period, a 15% decline from the previous year. The marketplace, often called Obamacare, serves self-employed workers, small business owners and others who don't get insurance through an employer. State officials say enrollment fell after pandemic-era federal subsidies expired at the end of last year, leaving most people with smaller tax credits and some with no help at all. That drove premiums higher and pushed some Oregonians to buy leaner plans or drop coverage. PacificSource's departure from the marketplace puts it among a growing number of insurers nationwide that have announced plans to leave individual markets after 2026. The move also adds to broader changes in Oregon's health insurance landscape, where several carriers have scaled back their business in recent years. Earlier this month, Providence Health Plan announced it will stop offering most of its commercial insurance products - including individual, family and employer coverage - beginning in 2027. The shift will force hundreds of thousands of Oregonians to find new coverage. Providence, Oregon's third-largest health insurer, currently covers more than 420,000 people in the state. PacificSource has long been a significant player in rural parts of Oregon, and its withdrawal, combined with Providence's exit from most of its insurance lines, could further reduce plan choices for some consumers. Thompson said broader problems in the healthcare system, including rising costs, uneven access and disappointing patient experiences, are making it harder for insurers to operate sustainably. "These are not abstract problems," Thompson said. "They directly affect PacificSource's ability to continue delivering reliable, high-quality coverage to the people who count on us." PacificSource does plan to offer severance packages to eligible workers under company policy. According to the filing, none of the affected workers are represented by a union, and employees will not have bumping rights that would allow them to displace other workers. The company did not identify which positions will be eliminated. PacificSource to end Montana insurance operations. PacificSource Health Plans, one of Montana's three primary health insurance providers, will cease its Montana operations and exit the marketplace by the end of the year. "PacificSource is making difficult decisions to ensure we can continue fulfilling our mission and serving members for the long term amid growing pressures across the healthcare industry," company spokesperson Amber Conger confirmed to the Daily Montanan on May 21. "This includes exiting the individual market, as well as the state of Montana." The health insurance company has operated in Montana since 2012, providing individual, small and large group, ASO and Medicare Advantage health plans, and is contracted with more than 90% of providers in the state, according to the company. According to information provided to the Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance, PacificSource counts approximately 11,000 individual health members, 15,000 small group members, 4,500 large group members, and 1,100 Medicare Advantage members in Montana, and serves as a third-party administrator for thousands of others. A spokesperson for the Commissioner's office said the company informed the state of its decision earlier this week. "Anytime a health insurance provider pulls out of the Montana market, consumers are impacted," Spokesperson Ethan Holmes said in an email to the Daily Montanan. "They're forced to shop for new plans, and with less options in the market, may have to choose one that doesn't serve their needs as well." The Springfield, Oregon-based company cited headwinds across the healthcare industry as the reason for shrinking its footprint. "These are not decisions made lightly. We know they will affect people's coverage and livelihoods, and we recognize the real impact on the individuals and communities we serve," Conger said. "The reality is the healthcare system is unsustainable: Costs continue to rise, access is inconsistent, and the experience often falls short of what people need and deserve. These are not abstract problems. They directly affect PacificSource's ability to continue delivering reliable, high-quality coverage to the people who count on us." Rising healthcare costs have been a major talking point for years, especially last fall when federal subsidies for Affordable Care Act Marketplace plans were set to expire. Individual marketplace plans in Montana increased for 2026 through all providers, with PacificSource asking for a roughly 12% increase; though the state's other insurers, Mountain Health Co-Op and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana, the largest, requested significantly higher increases for plans purchased through the federal marketplace. PacificSource largely withdrew from the state of Washington in 2024, but will continue to operate in Idaho and Oregon, but the company has recently reduced operations in those markets as well. In Oregon, the Willamette Week reported last October that PacificSource was planning to layoff 381 people - roughly one-fifth of its employees. The company partially withdrew from that state's Medicaid system, affecting around 20,000 members in the Portland area, and ended a Medicaid contract with the state covering around 90,000 members in Lane County. PacificSource will continue its individual plans in Montana through Dec. 31, 2026. "Unfortunately, this will affect valued employees as we will reduce positions to match our restructured business units," Conger said in a statement. "We will help affected employees through this process as much as possible, including offering severance packages if they qualify per company policy... We are working to finalize those impact numbers and will share more information when it's available and will communicate directly with impacted employees first." The company has offices in Helena and Billings, but has just a few dozen staff in Montana. Holmes said Montanans who are concerned about the impact to their health insurance plans can reach out to the Commissioners office. "Our office, specifically our Insurance Consumer Service (ICS) bureau, is dedicated to helping Montanans navigate the insurance market. We encourage Montana consumers to reach out if they have questions about their insurance coverage, especially if they are impacted by Pacific Source exiting the market,"Holmes said. PacificSource grants $40,000 to support St. Peter's Health programs. St. Peter's Health Foundation has received $40,000 in grant funding from PacificSource to expand community programs that improve health and wellbeing for people experiencing housing insecurity and support access to healthcare services and items needed for healing across St. Peter's Health's five-county service area. The funding includes a $25,000 grant from the PacificSource Foundation for Health Improvement to support St. Peter's Health's Housing is Healthcare program and a $15,000 Community Health Excellence Grant to expand the St. Peter's Health Foundation Patient Assistance Program. Both programs rely on grants and community contributions to meet growing local needs, and PacificSource's investment helps sustain these critical services. The Housing is Healthcare program is led by St. Peter's Health Community Health Workers (CHWs), who work directly with people experiencing homelessness or housing instability to reconnect them with medical and behavioral healthcare, substance use treatment, Medicaid and other public assistance programs, and housing resources. Stable housing is foundational to health. By addressing the social and economic factors that influence wellbeing, the program improves long-term health outcomes and reduces avoidable emergency department visits for people with complex medical and social needs. In 2025, more than 60 people in the Helena community were supported through the program. The St. Peter's Health Foundation Patient Assistance Program helps remove barriers that can prevent people from accessing care and the essential resources they need to heal - items not covered by insurance or other programs and often unaffordable for patients. Support includes transportation assistance, gas cards, medications, medical supplies, and other items needed for recovery. In 2025 alone, the program provided $205,254 in assistance to 1,183 patients and their families across St. Peter's Health's five-county service area. "Access to care isn't just about doctors and clinics. When people have a way to get to care and the resources they need to heal and stabilize their lives, health outcomes improve and our whole community benefits. Programs like our Patient Assistance Fund and Housing is Healthcare are key solutions to these challenges. We're grateful to PacificSource for their support," said Wade Johnson. "At PacificSource, we believe that health starts long before someone walks into a clinic. Stable housing, transportation and access to basic resources all play a critical role in health and recovery.
