Requirements
  • Formal training in an accredited radiological program and an associate degree in Radiology.
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • At least two years of full-time experience as a CT Technologist in an acute care hospital facility, or completion of Marin Health's cross-training program.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required at hire.
  • Radiologic Technologist licensure is required at hire.
  • Radiology Fluoroscopy certification is required at hire.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists credential is required at hire.
  • Computed Tomography certification must be obtained within 365 days of hire.
  • Integrative Agitation Management (IAM) training is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to perform all diagnostic radiography examinations according to the department's policies and procedures.
  • Understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques.
  • Ability to interact with the public, clients, staff, and referring physicians with diplomacy, tact, and goodwill.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients under stress.
  • Ability to participate in department team quality-improvement activities.
  • Required measles, mumps, varicella, and annual influenza immunizations as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Operate specialized computerized X-ray equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patients' anatomy for radiologist interpretation and diagnosis.
  • Manipulate CT scans to accommodate patient size and motion and reduce undesirable artifacts.
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures regarding ALARA, possible pregnancy, and scanning protocols as directed by the radiologist.
  • Take standby shifts as needed according to hospital needs.
