Requirements
  • Be a first-level registered nurse with recent relevant post-qualification experience and a current professional identification number.
  • Have sound and demonstrable knowledge of harm reduction and health promotion interventions.
  • Be able to assess and recovery-plan service users and formulate written reports as necessary.
  • Have clinical auditing skills to inform service evaluation and identify areas for development.
  • Maintain a professional, empathetic, and non-judgmental attitude toward service users and stakeholders.
  • Understand the importance of professional integrity in relationships with service users, peers, and other relevant professionals.
  • Complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Responsibilities
  • Work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, offering specialist clinical interventions to people who are homeless or find it difficult to engage with services.
  • Use nursing skills and knowledge to carry out physical and psychosocial assessments for the homeless population.
  • Provide evidence-based clinical and therapeutic treatments to improve health outcomes for the homeless population.
  • Screen for blood-borne viruses through dry blood spot testing.
  • Work within and consolidate integrated care and treatment pathways for individuals infected with hepatitis B, hepatitis C, or HIV.
  • Provide hepatitis A and/or hepatitis B vaccinations when indicated.
  • Partner with community teams and voluntary organisations to ensure seamless care delivery to the homeless population.
  • Advocate for people experiencing homelessness, support their choices regarding care, and promote independence and self-care.
  • Contribute to the Change Grow Live Naloxone Strategy by training staff and individuals in naloxone use.
  • Offer wound-care assessments and basic wound dressings; arrange signposting to other services and ensure clear pathways into appropriate treatment services.
Desired Qualifications
  • Recent relevant experience working in drug and alcohol treatment is desirable but not essential.
