Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
- One year of grocery or retail experience is preferred; a natural foods background is a plus.
- One year of experience supervising others is preferred.
- One year of experience in vitamins or supplements is preferred.
- Ability to pass food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered if applicable.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and stay focused on the task at hand.
- Ability to complete tasks with a sense of urgency.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to take direction and follow through.
- Must be cashier trained and able to count currency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to lift or carry up to 10 pounds constantly, 11–20 pounds frequently, 21–50 pounds occasionally, and 51–100 pounds occasionally with a team lift.
- Ability to push or pull up to 15 pounds frequently and 16–100 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to occasionally use a computer for data entry and mouse operation.
- Ability to constantly walk, stand, perform fine motor manipulations, grip, bend, twist, turn, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.
- Ability to frequently reach above chest level and occasionally sit, squat, kneel, and climb as needed.
- Ability to frequently work with sharp tools and equipment, dust, fumes, and congested worksites; and occasionally work with noise, cold, heat, wet conditions, humidity, outdoors, heights, and contact stress.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Vitamin and Body Care Managers in operating and maintaining profitable vitamin and body care departments.
- Provide customer service and support a positive customer experience as a daily priority.
- Demonstrate integrity, responsibility, and excellence and adhere to company policies.
- Create inviting, full, and shoppable departments.
- Assist department managers with ordering for vitamin and body care departments and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
- Assist department managers in managing margin, driving sales, and department profitability, including minimizing shrink and maximizing effective purchasing.
- Ensure in-stock products and conditions meet company standards.
- Offer and follow up on special orders.
- Merchandise shelves, endcaps, and dynamic displays.
- Assist with and participate in tagging, facing, rotating, cleaning, markdowns, stocking, and backstock.
- Assist in training and monitoring department personnel, including assigning tasks and following up on them.
- Conduct active and passive demonstrations.
- Work with department managers to address performance issues within the department.
- Support store opening and closing activities, including Daily Sales Report preparation, cash handling, and cashier closeout responsibilities.
- Handle register functions, including backup cashiering, customer returns, customer complaints, and register shift changes, including scheduled breaks.
- Maintain customer and employee safety and security.
- Answer customer questions according to company standards and policies, including using Health Supportive Statements and/or statements of nutritional support.
- Continually increase product knowledge.
- Use SAP, inventory management software, email, and other information systems programs as needed.
- Work five days and 40 hours per week on a schedule based on store needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and attend mandatory store meetings.
- Perform limited Manager on Duty duties; this position is not intended to serve as the overall Manager on Duty for the store.
- Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
