  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS, ASC 946/820, waterfall mechanics, carried interest, fee mechanics, equalizations, and side letter economics.
  • Hands-on fluency with private equity accounting platforms such as Investran, Allvue, eFront, Yardi, and Workiva; BI tools such as Power BI and Tableau; and workflow automation tools such as RPA, Alteryx, and Anaplan.

  • Strong accounting judgment and ability to identify and mitigate operational and regulatory risks.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and accountability for driving outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end private equity fund accounting across multiple vintages, strategies, and structures, owning the platform, process, people, and client-service pillars to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, investor servicing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as a critical liaison with Front Office, Investor Relations, Tax, Compliance, and external administrators and auditors.
  • Own monthly and quarterly closes for funds and feeder vehicles, delivering financial statements under US GAAP/IFRS, partner capital accounts, and investor-level reporting.
  • Oversee workflows for capital calls, distributions, true-ups, equalizations, and side-letter economics, ensuring precision and timely investor communications.
  • Coordinate fair-value measurements under ASC 820/IFRS 13 and run waterfall allocations, including carried interest, preferred returns, and catch-ups.
  • Ensure compliance with AIFMD, Form PF, Annex IV, FATCA/CRS, and local filings; partner with Tax on K-1/investor tax packs and jurisdictional complexities.
  • Author, maintain, and enforce global accounting policies, playbooks, RACI matrices, and escalation protocols; drive quality reviews and exception management.
  • Lead Lean/Six Sigma initiatives to reduce close-to-report cycle time and errors and eliminate manual reconciliations through automation and standardization.
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for LPs, address complex inquiries and bespoke reporting, and maintain response-time and accuracy SLAs.
  • Collaborate with Deal Teams, Portfolio Monitoring, IR, Legal/Compliance, and external auditors and administrators to ensure information flow and timely deliverables.
  • Lead onboarding for new funds and investors, side letters, and transitions to or from administrators; ensure change governance, cutover plans, and risk controls.
  • Produce executive-ready dashboards, variance analyses, waterfall summaries, and board/regulatory packs; anticipate issues and proactively manage expectations.
  • Drive the roadmap, selection, and optimization of the fund-accounting technology stack; champion automation of capital calls, distributions, waterfalls, management fees, and carried-interest calculations.
  • Establish standardized data models and authoritative sources for portfolio, capital-activity, and investor records; implement reference/master data management and reconciliation frameworks.
  • Implement SOX-style internal controls, segregation of duties, audit trails, and role-based access; ensure cyber-resilience and data-privacy compliance, including GDPR and CCPA where applicable.
  • Build repeatable operating models supporting new fund launches, multi-currency books, and complex structures; target straight-through processing and strong cycle times.
  • Manage and mentor fund controllers and teams across locations and time zones; build succession plans and career paths and cultivate a high-performance culture.
  • Align workforce capacity with demand from fund launches, transactions, and audit cycles; optimize onshore/offshore mix and use managed services or administrators where strategic.
  • Implement structured learning paths, certification support, and cross-training programs.
  • Promote accountability, continuous learning, and psychological safety; recognize excellence and build inclusive practices that improve retention and productivity.
