Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to ten or more years of experience in commercial banking, depending on the position level.
  • A track record of business development and client acquisition.
  • Understanding of financial statements and risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
  • Experience with portfolio management, client relationship development, and structuring and negotiating loan terms.
  • Successful completion of required background checks.
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and speak effectively with clients or employees and communicate directly with clients.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, fractions, and proportions, and to read and interpret financial documents.
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding and solve challenging problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to market areas and attend offsite seminars or training sessions.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of commercial clients.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with business owners, chief executive officers, presidents, chief financial officers, and other key decision-makers.
  • Conduct regular client reviews to assess financial needs and satisfaction.
  • Analyze financial statements and assess clients' creditworthiness.
  • Structure and negotiate commercial loans and credit facilities.
  • Work with credit analysts to assist with underwriting credit proposals.
  • Approve loans within specified limits or present loans to the loan committee for approval.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, including loan covenants, renewals, and risk ratings.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks within the portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through networking, referrals, and market research.
  • Promote products and services and refer existing and potential customers to Treasury Management, Private Banking, and Wealth and Asset Management.
  • Collaborate with product specialists to deliver comprehensive financial solutions.
  • Work closely with credit analysts, commercial services, and operations teams to ensure smooth client onboarding and servicing.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Ensure loan documents are complete and accurate according to policy.
  • Participate in training programs, workshops, certifications, and educational resources relevant to the role.
  • Set stretch assignments and cross-functional opportunities that foster growth and learning.
