Avelios Medical makes ultra-efficient neuromorphic processors that imitate how the brain processes information. Their devices use analog-mixed signal circuits to recreate spiking neurons and synapses, allowing sensor data to be processed faster and with much less energy than traditional computer chips. The hardware-based approach is different from software-focused AI by building brain-like processing directly into the processor. This lets businesses access and analyze sensor data more quickly while consuming less power, with goals that include enabling AI-powered healthcare tools and other healthcare-digital workflows.

SAP invests in Avelios Medical and launches $11.3B share buyback programme amid share price decline

SAP has made a strategic investment in Munich-based HealthTech company Avelios Medical, whilst launching a share buyback programme worth up to €10 billion to restore investor confidence following significant share price losses. The investment is linked to SAP's withdrawal from the traditional hospital information systems market by 2030. SAP's shares have fallen approximately 37% from their June 2025 peak, trading at €170.32, with a 15% decline since the start of 2026. The drop followed disappointing cloud order backlog figures in Q4 2025, despite solid overall performance including 26% cloud revenue growth and free cash flow exceeding €8 billion. The company is implementing countermeasures, including the buyback programme running until end-2027, a proposed €2.50 dividend per share, and focusing on AI integration, with two-thirds of Q4 cloud orders containing AI components.

SAP invests in Avelios Medical

SAP invests in Avelios Medical. News article. SAP, one of our long-standing limited partners, makes a strategic investment in our portfolio company Avelios Medical, a company that is reshaping hospital IT and clinical workflows. Together, Avelios and SAP offer an open, AI-native and sovereign platform, developed in Europe and designed for enterprise-scale hospital rollouts. SAP's commitment reflects conviction in a company that HTGF has backed at the earliest stage. At HTGF, we sit at the intersection of bold founders and industry-defining LPs. When the two sides connect that's the HTGF flywheel working. What makes Avelios particularly compelling is its timing. The IS-H transformation is reshaping the clinical IT market, and hospitals facing fundamental IT realignments need orientation. Avelios is exactly that. The company offers a platform that integrates clinical workflows, patient data, and administrative processes - built on a structured, semantically consistent data model that enables interoperability and clinical intelligence at enterprise scale.
